1.1 Introduction

1.1.1 Purpose 1.1.1.1 This Software Requirements Specification provides a complete description of all the

functions and specifications related to display of Network Monitoring System Software of Train Collision Avoidance System (TCAS).

1.1.1.2 The main purpose of Network Monitoring System Software is to display multiple stations with station input functions and Train Movements. It also displays fault messages from stations and Locos.

1.1.1.3 This software will also send SMS messages in‐case of critical faults to concern teams.

1.1.1.4 This document is intended to be used by the Application design and development teams of this project while design and developing Network Monitoring System Software for TCAS and the internal as well as external Independent Verification and Validation agencies while carrying out their job.

1.1.2 Scope

1.1.2.1 The document describes about the process for designing yard layout and station input functions. It also describes Loco movement requirements in the yard.

1.1.2.2 This GUI development provides user‐friendliness and visualization of the functional aspect of the system.

1.1.2.3 End users for this software are TCAS System Maintainer/Railway officials.

1.1.3 Applicable Documents

1.1.3.1 The following Standards and Specifications with latest revisions thereof, if any, form a part of this Specification to the extent mentioned herein. In the event of any conflict between this document and the Standards or Specifications referred below, the requirements of the latter shall prevail.

1.1.3.2 RDSO/SPN/196/2020 version 4.0 or Latest (Indian Railway Automatic Train Protection System) Specification Document for RDSO/Indian Railway.

1.1.4 Definition, Acronyms and Abbreviations

1.1.4.1 Definitions 1.4.1.1 DLL: A library of routines loaded and linked into applications at run time.

1.1.4.2 Acronyms 1.4.2.1 Database: Each Database is the primary object and contains all the objects such as

tables, views and procedures.



1.4.2.2 Table: Each table represents a data item or entity. Tables are typically logical data containers, such as a Stations table, Locos table.

1.2 System Context / Architecture

1.2.1 Train Collision Avoidance System is a Safety Critical system. The System Architecture should be such that it gives approved method of working, ensuring high degree of Safety, Reliability, Availability and Maintainability.

1.2.2 The TCAS comprises of two sub systems, namely Loco TCAS and Stationary TCAS. The communication between the Stationary TCAS and Loco TCAS is radio communication over the air.

1.2.3 The Stationary TCAS gathers information about the current status of all signal aspects, Berthing Track Circuits and Point Status within the Station. Based on this information Stationary TCAS calculates the Movement Authority for each Loco within its vicinity. This information is transmitted to the Loco TCAS through Radio communication.

1.2.4 The Loco TCAS controls its speed and supervises the train movement and other on board operations in accordance with the data received from the Stationary TCAS and section speed received through RFID tags. In the event of emergency situations, the system applies brakes thereby preventing any catastrophic accidents.

1.2.5 This Application software displays station status and Loco movement and also log the data to generate report for analysis purpose.

1.2.6 The Application Architecture is a two Tier Architecture. The two tier architecture shall be like client server application. The direct communication shall take place between client and server. There shall be no intermediate between client and server. Here the communication is one to one.

Client Layer: It is also called as presentation layer which shall contain UI part of the application. This layer is used for the design purpose where data shall presented to the user or input is taken from the user.

Data Layer: Data layer shall contain methods to connect with database. This layer is used to insert, update, get data from database based on user input data.

1.3 System Function

1.3.1 Product Perspective

1.3.1.1 The Application software shall have Front End, for displaying yard status and train movements.

1.3.1.2 The Application software shall log data received from stationary TCAS and Loco TCAS

which can be useful for analysis purpose when needed.

1.3.1.3 The Application software shall send alerts to concerned teams through SMS during critical failures.

1.3.1.4 The Application software shall have station configuration monitoring through GUI.

1.3.1.5 The Application software shall have User Monitoring through GUI.

1.3.2 User Characteristics

1.3.2.1 User Roles: There are three types of Users, Designer Level and Customer Level. Intended users should have a minimum literacy on computer functionalities and hardware of PC.

1.3.2.2 Design Engineers: These people prepare stationary and Loco TCAS inputs required for the Application software, analysis and check TCAS Sub‐System configuration details whether specific configuration is working properly or not.

1.3.2.3 Hardware Engineers: The people will analyze the data and verify whether the functionality of stationary TCAS and Loco TCAS is in line with hardware.

1.3.2.4 Technical Expertise: Awareness about Signaling Domain and TCAS System.

1.3.3 Customer vs Application Software 1.3.3.1 Customer can use the software for displaying the online and offline status of the

stations.

1.3.3.2 Customer can also check from the live data available with the NMS. 1.3.3.3 Set up and installation procedures shall be provided in the user manual and in help

menu bar.



1.3.4 Maintainer Vs Application Software

1.3.4.1 Maintainer can generate reports for analysis purpose In‐case of any failure by utilizing NMS Data.

1.3.5 Risks

1.3.5.1 If user deletes or change data from any file, which is in the application directory then the application might not work properly.

1.3.5.2 If communication fails, then the stationary and Loco packets in the non‐communication period will be lost in this version.(Subsequent version shall take care of the data receipt after resumption of communication)

1.3.5.3 Whenever there is change in yard layout, TCAS control table, RFID layout, Addition of new firm the user railway shall update the NMS database also for proper functioning of NMS display.

1.3.5.4 The application shall takes the status of the relays for every 2 seconds. In between 2 seconds, the change of the status of the relay will not be recorded in NMS application.

1.3.6 General Constraints

1.3.6.1.4 1.3.6.1.5 The lowest resolution for viewing displayed data on the front end screen is 1024x768. Based on Screen Resolution of current working PC, the complete GUI may not be visible to the user.

1.4 Functional Requirements

1.4.1 Flash Screen Loading Animation

1.4.1.1 Application shall display loading animation until application loads completely.

1.4.1.2 Application flash screen shall be displayed on top of the screen.

1.4.2 Flash Screen Information

1.4.2.1 Application flash screen shall have the information like Application Title, Application Version. [Figure 2 : Flash Screen]

1.4.3 Stations Information

1.4.3.1 Stations List

1.4.3.1.1 Application shall display list of stations with station name and code from the Database file. The detail procedure of updating or editing the database shall be defined in the user manual.

1.4.3.1.2 The database file should be password protected.

1.4.3.1.3 Each station shall have a provision to select / de‐select option, only selected stations shall be displayed.

1.4.3.1.4 Application shall have a provision to select / de‐select all stations by a simple checkbox on the GUI.

1.4.3.2 Open

1.4.3.2.1 Application shall have a button with the name ‘Open’ to open NMS Main window. On clicking this button, application shall validate all inputs provided by the user before opening main window. In‐case of errors, application shall display appropriate message to the user.

1.4.3.3 Close

1.4.3.3.1 Application shall have a button with the name ‘Close’ to close NMS Main window. On clicking this button, the NMS main window shall be closed with password protection. [Figure 3 : Stations List]

1.4.3.4 Main Screen Stations



1.4.3.4.1 Application shall display all selected stations in a single window with small foot print to recognize all the connected stations with their link status.

1.4.3.4.2 Application shall divide total screen size into equal parts depending on the number of stations in the NMS. Each station shall be displayed in a tabular form.

1.4.3.4.3 Each yard shall be designed according to the RFID layout of that station in NMS display tools or using separate tool. The details of the tools shall be defined in their user manual.

1.4.3.4.4 Every required function aspect shall be mapped against to the corresponding relay. Function such as signal aspect, TIN and Berthing Track shall be mapped to be displayed on the NMS software.

1.4.3.4.5 Stationary TCAS link status shall be mapped to station/IB/LC/RIU name. On link failure, station name shall be displayed in Red color after the continuous delay of communication for 10 cycles (20 seconds) otherwise Green color. [Figure 4 : Multi Stations Display]

1.4.3.5 Stationary TCAS Display Parameters

1.4.3.5.1 Yard Background : Application shall display station background in black color.

1.4.3.5.2 Track: Application shall display tracks with rectangular bars. Application shall display all tracks in gray color by default. Berthing Tracks shall be mapped with corresponding Berthing track relay, whenever the relay drops then the track control shall be displayed with Red color.

1.4.3.5.3 Point: Application shall display Point with rectangular bars with required inclination. Application shall display all Points in Gray color.

1.4.3.5.4 LC Gate: Application shall display LC Gate with dashed lines in Gray color.

1.4.3.5.5 Signal Post: Application shall display signal post with a line in Gray color.

1.4.3.5.6 Signal Aspect: Application shall display signals with circular controls with gray border. Each aspect shall be filled by its corresponding aspect type and its mapping relay. For example: Red aspect shall be mapped with XRECR, whenever XRECR picks up then the signal aspect shall be filled with Red color otherwise it shall be filled with black color. The same shall be followed for Yellow, Double Yellow, Green and Calling‐on aspects.

1.4.3.5.7 Shunt Signal: Application shall display Shunt signals with Quadrant circle with a gray color border and filled with black color.



1.4.3.5.8 Route Indicator: Application shall display Route Indicators with small rectangular bars in Gray color by default. Whenever the route indicator relay picks up then the application shall display corresponding route indicator in Yellow color.

1.4.3.5.9 TIN: Application shall display TIN as rectangular bars on tracks. These TINs shall be displayed whenever corresponding TIN relay picks up. By default they shall be filled with Olive color.

1.4.3.5.10 Text: Application shall display required labels foreground with White/Gray color with “Times New Roman” font. For station name the font size shall be 20 and for others 14.

1.4.3.5.11 Train: Application shall display Train with consecutive rectangular strips with Deep Sky Blue color. The front stripes shall be displayed with Yellow color to indicate Engine. Train info shall be displayed in Orange color.

1.4.3.6 Full View

1.4.3.6.1 Application shall have a provision to display single yard in full view. On double clicking the yard, the yard shall be displayed in full screen. If the user again double clicks it, then it shall be displayed in the normal state.

1.4.3.6.2 On full screen view, application shall display the next station and previous station links. On clicking the station link, application shall navigate to corresponding station in full view. [Figure 6 : Station Full View]
