    Cautions

    Moisture and sulfide sensitivity

    1. Materials of PLCC type LED, PPA reflector, phosphor, silicone resin, are moisture-absorbing. Therefore, do not open the Moisture-proof bag unless LEDs are used immediately. 2. Each moisture-proof bag was vacuumed and sealed before shipping to customer. Through a series of baking and

    packing procedures, the LEDs produced are confident of limited moisture absorption. Baking the LEDs before

    soldering are suggested, especially when bags were opened for a long time. Baking condition is 60℃ for 24 hours.

    3. The Ag plating layer on the surface of lead frame is easily sulfurized when exposed to the air. The sulfide on the

    surface of lead frame might hinder soldering. Avoid exposing the LEDS to sulfide as much as possible.

    Repair

    1. LEDs should not be removed, adjusted, or changed after soldering. If repair is inevitable, it is suggested to remove old one and solder a brand-new one on your products. If repair is executed by manual soldering, two head soldering-iron should be better than the single head one.

    2. Before soldering, make sure that temperature is not over 300℃. Each LED should be soldered within 3 seconds and for only one time.

    Storage

    1. Before opening bag: The LEDs should be kept at 25℃±5℃, 70%±10%RH.

    2. After opening bag: The LEDs should be kept at 25℃±5℃, 30~50%RH.

    3. Unused LEDs should be stored in moisture-proof bag and sealed. Please perform the baking procedure which

    mentioned above before using the remaining LEDs.

    Static electricity

    Static electricity or surge voltage damages the LEDs. Utmost precautions should be taken against surge

    voltage or static electricity when handling the LEDs.

    9 Handling Precautions

    Compare to epoxy encapsulant that is hard and brittle, silicone is softer and flexible. Although its characteristic

    significantly reduces thermal stress, it is more susceptible to damage by external mechanical force. As a result,

    Special handling precautions need to be observed during assemble using silicone encapsulated LED products,

    Failure to comply might leads to damage and premature failure of the LED.

    1. Handle the component along the side surface by using forceps or appropriate tools

    2. Do not directly touch or handle the silicone lens surface. It may damage the internal circuitry

    3. Do not stack together assembled PCBs containing LEDs. Impact may scratch the silicone lens or damage the internal circuitry
