FLORIDA’S COURT CLERKS AND COMPTROLLERS

Florida’s Court Clerks and Comptrollers are independently elected constitutional officers who protect the interests of you – the citizen. As the County Comptroller, they provide critical

checks and balances to make sure your tax dollars are spent appropriately. As Clerk, they serve as the keeper of court records, documenting our lives from birth to death. The Clerk's office

performs more than 1,000 different constitutional and statutory functions or duties, representing the broadest and most diverse mantle of responsibility of any locally elected official.

We warmly welcome you to world-famous Daytona Beach! With more than half a million residents, Volusia County boasts 47 miles of Atlantic Ocean beaches. Locals and visitors alike enjoy a variety of beautiful nearby waterfront towns, including Ormond Beach and New Smyrna Beach.

In addition to our well-known shores, Volusia County is famous for its motor sports—NASCAR racing and destination biker events. Early automotive pioneers such as Louis Chevrolet and Henry Ford enjoyed their leisure time in the area and found that the hard-packed sand and wide expanse of beach provided the perfect spot for early auto racing. Ormond Beach, in fact, is known as the “Birthplace of Speed.” The racing tradition continues today at Daytona International Speedway, home of the DAYTONA 500, an event larger than the Super Bowl.

West Volusia County is home to several thriving municipalities and true southern charm can be found in DeLand, the county seat. Winner of the 2017 national America’s Main Street contest, DeLand’s downtown is filled with antique shops, art museums and quaint restaurants, surrounded by stately historic homes and buildings.

Volusia County’s institutions of higher learning—Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Stetson University, Bethune-Cookman University, Daytona State College and the University of Central Florida—have a national reputation for excellence.

Please explore and enjoy your time here in Daytona Beach. There are many excellent restaurants and lively nightlife destinations along the ocean front area, including the nearby Wyndham Ocean Walk. Visit Daytona’s Main Street for a true biker experience and get a taste of the culture enjoyed during our famous destination events Bike Week and Bikertoberfest.

Staff members from the Volusia County Clerk’s office will be available throughout the conference to answer any questions about the area. We hope you will have a memorable stay with us!

Best Regards,

Laura E. Roth, Esq.

Clerk of Court, Volusia County
