15th ANNUAL SHINING STARS TALENT SHOW -“SNR’S GOT TALENT” SNR will be having a Talent Show meeting on December 5th from 6:00pm-8:00pm at

Prairie View Elementary in Post Falls and will start practicing in Jan. on Monday nights. This year’s show will be held on May 13th.

If you are interested in being in our Annual Talent Show and/or helping with the show please contact Angie @ 208-755-6781.

We really want people to try and tap into their talents and lesson the group and dance scenes this year so be thinking of your Talent you are wanting to do!

What’s Happening!!!!

BAD WEATHER IS APPROACHING CANCELLATION NOTICES WILL BE POSTED ON THE ACTIVITIES HOTLINE PRIOR TO EVENT As winter approaches it is even more important than ever that you check the activities hotline prior to going to the activity you have registered for. All cancellation notices will be posted no later than 3 hours before the event is to start, so please

check the hotline 3 hours before heading off to your activity. The Hotline Number is 769-2317. IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you are registered for an event and cannot make it please call and let us know you

cannot come. We are having a lot of problems with people not showing up for the activities they have signed up for and we prepare for a certain amount to be there and it costs us money. PLEASE CALL AND CANCEL!!! Also if you are late picking up, we will be charging a late fee charge of 5 dollars every 15 minutes you are late starting with the first 5 minutes you are late.

SNR has collaborated with service coordinators, providers, therapists, specialists, DDA’s and teachers within the community to offer free year round classes for our participants to come and learn valuable and much needed relationship skills in a fun and non-threatening environment. See Calendar for dates. Kathy Hearn, a retired special education teacher, will be facilitating these classes along with fun volunteers and guest speakers. SIGN UP TODAY!!!

Some of the topics : 1.) Qualities of Friendships-Kindness, loyalty, bullying, how to gain and keep friends, think before you speak, stalking, lying 2.) You only get one chance to make a first impression-Communication, body language, facial expressions, your moods and how they effect others 3.) Dealing with rejection-Hurt feelings –yours and others 4.) Click, Like, Share–Facebook, Texting, Phone, email, Internet, scams 5.) Staying safe in the community-stranger awareness, body language and how to deal with authorities if you encounter them 6.) Relationships– appropriate boyfriend and girlfriend relationships and how they should really look, staying faithful and committed to 1 person, How to treat your significant other, workplace relationships, engagement, marriage, not putting yourself in a bad situation, the im-portance of keeping commitments if you make them, your words mean everything PARTICIPANTS THAT RECEIVE A SCHOLARSHIP FROM THE KROC CENTER CAN USE THIS AS ONE OF THEIR CREDITS.

Santa will be making an appearance, there will be an End of the Year video presentation, special performances from The QuarterNotes, Maria Christina

Jenicek, and David Shiplett, lots of good food and wonderful friends. We will also be raffling off baskets throughout the party.

This party is not only for our SNR participants but their families are encouraged to attend.

Happy New Year! We will be having an early New Years Eve Party! Aaron

May will come and be our personal DJ and we will dance the day away!

We will play games, do crafts and have snacks all in the New Year’s

theme and we will toast to the New Year. Please bring a New Years Eve

appetizer or dessert to share with everyone if everyone bring appetizer/

dessert we will have enough for our lunch. We will send a memo home

for the item your child suggested bringing. (No Lunch Needed)

Transportation is provided from old Trading Company /New Yokes in Post Falls at 8:30 am and 3:30 pm drop off for camp-ers who live in Post Falls. Campers living in Coeur d’Alene/Hayden area will meet at the SNR facility at 9:00 am and be picked up at 3:00pm. Limited scholarships are available on a first come first sign up basis. December 19th

Welcome back Campers! We will be going to the Kroc Center for basket-ball and swimming. Please bring your swimming suit and towel! (Lunch Needed)

December 20th We will be going to Premiere Sports Center for some indoor sports activities at 10am and then we will be going bowling at Sunset Bowling in the afternoon. (Lunch Needed)

December 21st

We will be making Christmas presents for the North Star Assisted living residents and in the afternoon we will deliver them and do some Christmas caroling. (Lunch Needed) December 22nd

We will be having special guest Cda. Chorus of Sweet Adeline’s –4inAccord and then we will be in the Christmas pirit and begin our Christmas Party. We will be going to the dollar store and buying a gift and wrapping it and then we will do our gift exchange, make a gift for our fami-ly, bake and decorate cookies. In the afternoon if there is time we may go to the Mall to do a little last minute Christmas shopping. You may bring extra money if you would like. (Lunch Needed) Bring $1.00 for gift ex-change.

We will be going to Angie’s to play in the snow and 4-wheeler rides. We will build a bonfire, have hot cocoa, roast marshmal-lows. There will also be indoor activities to do. Dress Warm if you plan on

We will be going to Home Depot for a workshop at 10am. In the afternoon we will be going to the movies at Hayden Cinemas. If you would like you may bring extra money for refreshments. The time and movie will be deter-mined at a later time, if there is no appropriate movie playing we will do a movie at the center. (Lunch Needed)

December 29th

We will be going to Raptor Reef Indoor Water Park at Triple Play @ 11:30 am. Bring your swimming suits, towel and $5.00 extra dollars to help with cost. (EVEN IF YOU ARE SCHOLARSHIPED) (Lunch needed)

Specialized Needs Recreation’s experienced and trained volunteers would

like to offer an on-going Fundraiser to help support SNR by providing child care

services to the community and our parents. All proceeds raised will go

directly to our Program.

Price: $30 for 1 child, $35 for 2 children or $40 for 3 children

Price includes: child care, dinner, snacks and entertainment, and a night out for you to relax,

rejuvenate, shop or go on a date! A non-refundable deposit is required upon Registration. Limited space, sign up today!
