• Approved the reduction in the minimum sale price for property previously struck from the tax roll. Location is: 3209 Kingsbury Street, Richland Hills

• Approved the Student Code of Conduct and Extracurricular Honor Code for the 2012-13 school year.

• Approved revisions to Board Policy DEA (LOCAL) Compensation and Benefits: Salaries and Wages. This revision aligns policy with practice by defining the work week starting on Monday at 12:00 a.m. (midnight) and ending on Sunday at 11:59 p.m.

• Approved the Texas Association of School Boards’ Policy Update 93. Update 93 reflects changes in the law based upon recent administrative law and court decisions. Revisions were made to policies CW (LOCAL) Naming Facilities; DAB (LOCAL) Employment Objectives: Genetic Nondiscrimination; DAC (LOCAL) Employment Objectives: Objective Criteria for Personal Decisions; DH (LOCAL) Employee Standards of Conduct; EFA (LOCAL) Instructional Resources: Instructional Materials; FB (LOCAL) Equal Educational Opportunity; FDB (LOCAL) Admissions: Intradistrict Transfers and Classroom Assignments; FFH (LOCAL)Student Welfare: Freedom from Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation; FFI (LOCAL) Student Welfare: Freedom from Bullying; FNC (LOCAL) Student Rights and Responsibilities: Student Conduct; FNG (LOCAL) Student Rights and Responsibilities: Student and Parent Complaints/Grievances.

Bids Awarded• Approved the bids for basketball equipment and supplies; dish machine sanitation service, paper products and armored car service for Child Nutrition; and lawn equipment.

• Approved the bid for gym floor resurfacing to Quality Hardwood Floors, Inc.

• Approved the bids for engineering math curriculum from DiVinci Minds and Teaching Systems, Inc.

• Approved the proposal for property and worker’s compensation insurance from Frost Insurance Agency.

• Approved the renewal of the license agreement with Skyward, Inc.

• Approved the renewal of the license agreement with Eduphoria.

• Approved the renewal of the annual contract with Region 11 Education Service Center for contractual services.

Brittney Patch, Birdville High School, was recognized as a state finalist at the 2012 UIL State Gymnastics Meet.

Haley Whatley (not pictured) and Will Adkisson, Birdville High School, were recognized as state finalists at the 2012 UIL State Tennis Meet.

Joas Aguilar and Alex Hita, Birdville High School, were recognized as state finalists at the 2012 UIL State Track and Field Meet.

> 2012-13 Budget Highlights

• Approved the revised budgets for 2011-12.

• Approved increasing the student lunch prices for the 2012-13 school year as required by federal guidelines. New lunch prices are $2.15 for elementary and $2.35 for secondary.

• Approved the clarification on the supplemental pay of $450 for all full-time staff during the 2012-13 school year approved at the May 24, 2012 board meeting. Part-time employees who are current members of TRS will be eligible to receive $225 if they meet the criteria.

• Approved a Memorandum of Understanding with Tarrant County Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP) that BISD desires to participate and support the program.

• Approved the interlocal agreement with JPS Health Network for operation ofschool-based health centers for the 2012-13 school year.

• Approved the 2012-13 Teacher Appraisal Calendar.

• Approved the donation by ExxonMobile to Watauga Elementary for professional learning and teacher and staff appreciation awards.
