Storm water Corner

Do you know why fertilizers and grass clippings don’t belong in the storm drain? Fertilizers cause algae blooms which can kill fish and other wildlife in our creeks and streams. Grass clippings clog storm drains, causing them to malfunction during thunder storms.

Dear Citizens-

As we begin another year I want to say how proud I am to serve as the Mayor of Maiden. We have many hard working employees who go above and beyond the call of duty to make Maiden a great place to live.

I would like to congratulate our Employee of the Year, Donnie Angle who has served the Town since 2008. You will see Donnie out mowing or picking up trash. The Maiden Fire-fighter of the Year is Hunter Caldwell. Hunter joined the Maiden Fire Department as a Jr. Firefighter and is working towards an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science. I appreciate Donnie and Hunter’s hard work and dedication to the Town. I would also like to congratulate Bob and Tina Russo for winning Yard of the Year. You can reach me at (828)428-5031.

Sincerely,

Robert L. Smyre
