Organized and presented by the Alberta Super Run Association, Rock ‘n Red Deer is Western Canada’s largest g a t h e r i n g o f vintage and hot rod vehicles. show loop, Rock ‘n Red Deer has established itself as a destination event that draws exhibitors and participants from all over Western Canada and the northwest border states. “The original show
centered pretty much around car show type vehicle displays”, says Alberta Super Run President Dick Wallace. “But we’ve expanded the event each time to the point where we now offer a more broadly themed entertainment package that still showcases
the vehicles but appeals to more people”.The week kicks off on Monday, J u l y 30 w i t h registrations at the Westerner and an evening cruise of vehicles to Sylvan Lake. Tuesday sees a continuation of registration and a dinner cruise to Red Deer’s Queens D ine r followed by a show

Blues Brothers Too, the Vancouver based Blues Brothers tribute group will be featured Friday and Saturday at this year’s Rock ‘n Red Deer®, the weeklong paean to rock and roll, vintage cars and trucks and the culture of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. According to group cofounder Grant “E lwood” E iswor th , Blues Brothers Too made their first foray into the rock and roll biz in 2006 at the Valley Music Festival as a tribute to the original Blues Brothers. “It was quite an experience”, says Eisworth. “We lip-synched our way through a Blues Brothers classic and brought the house down. And for the rest of the festival we had people coming up to us asking when the Blues Brothers were coming back. It was wild!” he adds. “We tried it a couple of more times and started getting booking requests”. It was then that they decided they should get serious with no more lip synching and sing for real - the rest is history! While there have been many
highlights over the last six years for Eisworth and cofounder DJ”Jake” Porter, including meeting Dan Ackroyd the original Elwood, Eisworth feels that the best part of the whole experience is the people they meet and enjoyment of performing. “We get a great reception everywhere we go. Everyone loves the Blues Brothers”, says Eisworth. “It doesn’t seem to matter who the audience is or where we’re performing, little kids to seniors and everyone in between; when we start playing everyone starts clapping and singing along. The music makes everyone happy. It’s absolutely fantastic!”Jake, Elwood, and their 8 piece band, including Heather Davis, Brad Dillman, Bob Bachtold, Chuck Siggs, Bruce Dougall, Malcolm Green, Tom van Unen, Denis Scherman, and Chris “The Sheriff” England have performed all over Western Canada to the delight of their legion of fans. Although the band won’t be accompanying them to Rock ‘n Red Deer, Jake (with Ian McDonnell substituting for Porter) and Elwood will be joined by their
pride and joy, Blues Mobile Too otherwise known as “Our Lady of Blessed Acceleration”. The Blues Mobile Too is a genuine crowd pleaser and is a show in itself. A former police car from New Mexico, Blues Mobile Too features a 440 cop motor, cop tires, cop siren, cop radio (Motorola), cop speaker, cop computer (SCMODS) and cop lights as well as a state of the art sound system all directed through a huge roof mounted speaker. “It’s the model made before catalytic converters so it’ll run good on regular gas”, says Eisworth. The Blues Brothers Too are an exciting, high energy, tongue in cheek musical song, dance, tribute act full of choreographed song & dance routines. They will be performing at various stops at Downtown Cruise Night on Friday and the outdoor stage at the Westerner on Saturday. Come by and check them out – They’re on a Mission From God!”For more information on Blues Brothers Too check out their web site at www.bluesbrotherstoo.com or on their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/BluesBrothersToo.

In the s i zz l ing summer o f 2006, Cent ra l A lber ta was introduced to the brightest mix of music around – Sunny 94! Locally owned and operated, Sunny 94 was L.A. Radio Group’s first success in the local radio market, and was fortunate enough to share its summer debut with an impressive event that rolls through Red Deer only once every 3 years – Rock’n Red Deer®!Capitalizing on the sound of Sunny 94, Rock’n Red Deer enhanced their celebration of cars, music and culture from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Through this partnership, attendees and listeners were treated to an experience like no other, viewing vehicles and reminiscing with tunes from the Beach Boys, the Beatles, the Eagles and more. Hundreds of classics, cruisers and customs convened on Westerner
Park and locations throughout the city for a jam packed weekend of nostalgia and horsepower! With a successful 2006 event completed, Sunny 94 was better prepared for the next Rock’n Red Deer® event in 2009! By this time, L.A. Radio Group had expanded to include Red Deer’s Hit Music Channel – KRAZE 101-3 to the company, and both stations helped to broaden the appeal of this unique event. Rock’n Red Deer 2009 was also the year that Sunny 94 reconnected with the manic and merry Dr. D! Having met him at the last Rock’n Red Deer® event in ’06, the L.A. Radio Group team knew what to expect! Adding his own unique flair as host and DJ, Dr. D captures the attention and excitement of car enthusiasts at Rock N Red Deer! He’s also a human jukebox – Dr. D knows his music!
So much s o t h a t h e can now be heard on Sunny 94 e v e r y Sunday morning as host of the Sunday Morning Oldies Show – a glimpse back at the music and memories of yesterday! Now that another 3 years have passed, L.A. Radio Group is more than excited to present Rock’n Red Deer® 2012! Red Deer is a diverse, multifaceted city whose character and charm draws from a host of influences, both internal and external. One of the significant external influences is derived from visitors to the city and the direct and indirect benefits accruing to Red Deer as a result of those visits. It is estimated that each year, tourism in Red Deer and Red Deer County directly contributes over 250 million dollars to the local economy. There are many indirect benefits also accruing from the presence of these guests, not the least of which are their short term contribution to the social fabric of the area through new experiences, ideas and expectations as well as the growth of jobs, increased s p e n d i n g a n d e c o n o m i c diversification and infrastructure development experienced in
meeting the demands of tourism to the area.Using an event such as Rock ‘n Red Deer to illustrate, direct benefits accumulate through the purchase of hotel accommodation, meals, fuel and souvenirs by up to 1000 exhibitors. A further spin off also includes the direct economic benefits experienced by Central Alberta communities visited through the day long cruises sponsored by the event. While the indirect benefits are somewhat more difficult to gauge, the exposure of the local and visiting public to the exhibition also provides a marked benefit through exposure not only to the hot rod and classic hobby, but also to the social interaction and interest found between exhibitors and viewers. Tourism’s impact on local areas
can be of enormous benefit in g e n e r a t i n g directincome, developing local infrastructure and resources, creating jobs and resulting in the sharing of knowledge and experience by visitors and locals. Not only that, it can be a heckuva a lot of fun!
