The Show contin-ues to grow and if Tradex was twice as big I am sure we could fill it.

The Pacif ic Agriculture Show is by far the largest and most impor-tant agricul-tural exhibi-tion in the p r o v i n c e and is also drawing ex-hibitors and visitors from across North America.

The Show repre-sents many Ag sec-tors from dairy to poultry to livestock and the wide variety of crops grown with-in the large scope of horticulture. The show is the place to see all the latest equipment, machines and technology criti-cal to maximizing the efficiencies of farm operations.

People have never been more interested

in food and where it comes from and how it is grown. The Pacific Agriculture Show allows them to see the entire indus-try and economy that goes into produc-ing the food that we often take for granted at the supermarket.

The 15th annual Pacific Agriculture Show at Tradex at the Abbotsford Airport will again feature its name events – the Horticulture Short Course, BC Dairy Expo, the always popu-lar Trade Show and the Agri-Energy Forum.

The upcoming Agri-Energy Form will include discussions related to renew-able energy technologies including pyrolysis, small scale wind and micro hydro projects, regulations and plan-ning, and co-production development.

An expanded Farm Business Management program is being ar-ranged to run all day on Friday, Jan. 25, building on recent successful ses-sions.

Blueberry Day on Saturday, Jan. 26 will focus on this year’s harvest and the market outlook, new pest issues, irrigation and nutrition management.

For raspberry and strawberry grow-ers the issues center around new va-rieties, pest challenges including the spotted wing drosophila and the rasp-berry crown borer virus, and the crop returns from the 2012 growing season.

Each of these events are only part of the many important industry meet-ings and conferences of interest to producers.

The public is encouraged to come out and see the trade show, which features hundreds of exhibitors show-casing the latest products and tech-nology available in the agricultural sector.

More than 260 exhibitsThe province’s biggest agricultural

show is preparing to open its doors next week.

The Pacific Agriculture Show starts on Thursday, Jan. 24 and runs through Saturday, Jan. 26 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily at Tradex in Abbotsford.

The Pac Ag Show will showcase 260 farm machinery and related equipment exhibits plus feature three days of in-dustry seminars addressing the horti-cultural, dairy and agri-energy sectors.

Rollins Machinery will introduce the latest addition to their fleet of tractors, the TK4000 Series Crawler Tractors designed to work in steep terrain and in narrow rows.

The TK4030V is perfect for berry growers with a width of only 46.1 inches. The TK4050 is the ultimate all-purpose machine with a slightly wider width of 55.5 inches.

The TK4050M and the TK4060 are the largest of the new models to be seen at the show. They are equipped with a new all-weather factory cab option which means the operator can work in quiet, air-conditioned or heat-ed comfort. The new cab encircles you in glass allowing you to see how well the machine is performing.

Rollins Machinery will have sales representatives at the show to provide full information on this versatile new series of tractor.

The Bug Factory Ltd. will be one of the firms addressing natural pest control at the 2013 show. Located in

Nanoose Bay, B.C., the commercial insectory produces insects and mites that are safe, affective and beneficial alternatives to using harmful chemi-cals.

While chemicals become less effec-tive the more you use them, beneficial insects do not lose their effectiveness and are the only long term solution to pest insect control.

The Bug Factory raises a large va-riety of beneficial insects. They have identified the most common pests in both home and commercial gardens and hydroponic operations and have packaged insects to specifically target these.

The PacAg Show also features the annual Horticulture Short Course, BC Dairy Expo, the Agri-Energy Forum, a milking demonstration, a small farm animal display, greenhouse growers’ seminars, as well as presentations for potato growers, other vegetable grow-ers and organic growers.

On Wednesday, Jan. 23, the BC Agriculture Council hosts its annual Gala at the Ramada Inn with guest speakers Troy and Stacey Hadrick from South Dakota. The Hadricks have been delivering a strong message about agriculture world-wide.

They will also conduct a special workshop for farmers on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 9 a.m. Admittance is by Farmer Identity Card only.

FCC supports largest agriculture show in B.C.Canada’s leading agricultural loan

provider, Farm Credit Canada (FCC) is the presenting sponsor at this year’s Pacific Agricultural Show.

The annual exhibition will be held at Tradex from Jan. 24-26, and it show-cases the agricultural industry’s latest equipment and technology.

FCC is the leading provider of financ-ing to the agricultural industry since 1959, and it provides financing, insur-ance and management software to those in the agricultural fields.

“We are a federal crown cor-poration, solely dedicated to fi-nancing agricultural producers and agri businesses,” explained Sharon Eistetter, district director for FCC in Abbotsford.

The company’s main goal is to advance the business of agricul-ture and to enhance rural Canada by providing personalized and specialized services to farming operations and businesses related to farming. The primary focus of the ac-tivities of the corporation is on farming operations, including family farms.

According to Eistetter it doesn’t mat-ter how large or small the operation is.

“The minimum criteria is you have to have at least $5,000 a year of farm income to qualify.”

FCC will help finance everything from dairy to poultry operations, cranberry, blueberry and any type of agricultural business. That includes processing plants and other agri-related business.

“Manufacturers and suppliers of equipment as well,” she said, adding that FCC is “the largest financial insti-tution that finances agriculture across Canada.”

FCC has sponsored the Pacific Agricultural Show for years, and for good reason said Eistetter.

“It is the biggest agricultural show in B.C. and its right in our backyard here in Abbotsford.”

She said many FCC customers at-tend the show and that allows the company to network with them and potential new cus-tomers.

Eistetter believes that FCC is different from other money lending corporations.

“I think what sets us apart from the other financial institu-tions is that we’re in it for the long haul.”

She explained that they are on hand for “the good times and bad times” and are willing to support the people they serve.

FCC offers opportunities to attend programs, defer payments or limit pay-ments to interest only if needed and other options.

“We will work with you,” she said.FCC takes time to get to know cus-

tomers and their individual needs, goals and vision for the future. It has served Canadian agriculture as the leading provider of financing to the in-dustry since 1959.
