General Information Beginning December 3, 2021, the Festival of Lights returns for the ninth straight year in bigger and brighter fashion. Pedestrians and motorists alike are treated to a sparkling display of holiday lights and sights in Old Town Park and Old Town Bloomingdale through New Year’s Day.
Activities & Entertainment • Horse-drawn carriage rides (reservations required) • Holiday Crafts • Holiday-themed programs (registration required) • Complimentary refreshments during Museum hours • Photo opportunities with Buddy the Elf, Snowman & Reindeer • Holiday Cookie Decorating with D’s Treats• Santa Visit• Story Time
Holiday Show at the Museum Visit the Museum throughout the Festival of Lights for its annual holiday show. This year the display features a replica of the classic Walnut Room Christmas tree, decorated in silver and gold. Marshall Field’s items are arranged around the room, including a toy Marshall Field’s delivery truck, collectible Frango boxes, models of the Oak Park and State Street stores, and more. Enlarged photos of department stores of yesteryear are mounted on the walls, along with seasonal shopping bags, gifts and holiday newspaper ads. Also returning this year is the delightful LEGO Train exhibit.

Reindeer Games Everyone’s a reindeer for these Reindeer Games! Participants play themed games, create antlers to feel and look like reindeer, enjoy a tasty snack, and finish the evening making some reindeer food to put outside on Christmas Eve for Santa’s reindeer.

Holiday Cookie Bake & ExchangeWhy waste precious holiday time in your own kitchen preparing for and baking cookies when you can get the bulk of your holiday baking done in just three hours on a single Saturday morning!
