update on library project(s) Since our last update, the Library Board autho-rized a property appraisal of the St. Ursula Property as well as for the current library location. The Board also authorized the hiring of a company to perform an envi-ronmental review of the St. Ursula Property, known as SEQRA, for public municipalities. The board required the appraisal and the informa-tion from the SEQRA review to help determine if the St. Ursula Property would be a viable location for a potential new library. The property appraisal and SEQRA reports were completed and returned to the library in early April. The SEQRA review came back with no additional rec-ommendations or added concerns about the property. The appraisal report was delivered to the Library Board who is currently working on negotiating terms with the St. Ursula Property representatives. If they can reach a suitable agreement, this would be one of the final pieces of information that will enable the Library Board’s Bond Counsel to make a final deter-mination of the costs for the entire proposed project. Once the Board has this information, they will be able to make a definitive decision about whether or not to present this plan to the community and post a bond referendum date. The Library Board also approved the hire of Park East Construction Corp. at the May 9 Board meet-ing. They have been retained to serve as the Library’s Construction Manager and will verify and vet all plans, costs and work to ensure that all information is accurate. We encourage you to attend our up-coming Library Board Meetings – which will be held on July 11 and August 8, at 7:00 p.m., in the Library Meeting Room – to remain informed of the Library Board’s action on this important community decision.
