NSS Unit of G.V.P. College of Engineering (A) has conducted a special camp at

Venkatapuram Village, Anandapuram Mandal, Visakhapatnam District from

13-03-2015 to 19-03-2015.

The Day-to-Day activities carried out in detail during the special camp are

presented in this report. The photos, daily news coverage and the bills are also

included.

The support extended by the G.V.P. Administration and Management are highly

remarkable. The timely guidance and cooperation extended by Dr. K. Sri

Kumar, NSS Coordinator, JNTU-K Kakinada gave a wide scope to conduct the

activities successfully.

PREFACE

Special camping forms an integral part of NSS programmes. It provides an experience of

mutual adjustment and adaptation to new changing and challenging situations and generates

courage, confidence, comradeship, decision making, democratic attitudes, resourcefulness,

objectivity and leadership in the students. So, special camp is organized for 7 days

The NSS Unit of GVP College of engineering had organized ANNUAL SPECIAL CAMP at

VENKATAPURAM village (Gottipallipanchayath, Anandapuram Mandal, Visakhapatnam

district) which is 16.4kms from the college. The camp was held from 13-03-2015 to 19-03-

2015. Total 45 students attended the camp. Mentioned below is the list of volunteers and the

activities done in the period of the 7 days camp.

DETAILS OF DAY WISE ACTIVITIES

DAY 1: 13-03-2015

The NSS volunteers, along with two NSS Programme Officers and three faculty members,arrived the village at 10A.m in the morning. NSS special camp had been started with aninauguration meeting which was held in school compound in the presence of the followingguests:

Before lunch volunteers and the NSS coordinator had a meeting in the school about the planof action that is to be implemented in the 7 days schedule. After lunch volunteers went roundthe village and had an interaction session with the local youth and some of the villagers in thevillagers.

DAY-2: 14-03-2015

A rally was done in the streets of the village in the morning session of the camp. During therally the volunteers walked through the streets by doing the NSS claps.

Volunteers divided in to groups ofeach five members and done the survey regarding literacy,economic status regarding their occupation, means of income. A special survey conducted onhealth condition of the villagers regarding common health problems in the village andsanitation issues.

DAY-3: 15-03-2015

Rangoli competition was conducted to the villagers in the school. There was an interactionsession with the school children who came to the event along with their parents andconducted few games to them. The winners in the Rangoli competition was awarded with ashield at the end of the camp.

DAY-4: 16-03-2015

An interactive session was conducted with school children regarding school drops andbrought some motivation about education and its importance. In the session they were shownsome famous personalities pictures and asked to identify and speak about them. Some of thevolunteers explained about their aspiring characters to the school children. School childrenwere asked to tell their goals.

After lunch volunteers involved in teaching signature to women and old people in the village.With the inspiration of our volunteers a girl from the village took initiative and startedteaching signature to her mother. We got a nice response from members of the villagers andcame forward to learn signatures.



DAY-5: 17-03-2015

SwachaBharath program was done by the school children, teachers along with the volunteers.After lunch there is an interactive session with Mr.Rakeeb (founder of power organization).He gave awareness to the volunteers about the legal acts. That interactive session was veryhelpful to the volunteers.

DAY-6: 18-03-2015

Head master of the school requested us to paint the walls of the school with usefulinformation to the children. We decided to paint on three concepts. They are- Save Environment- Unity in Diversity- Women Empowerment

Volunteers took active participation in painting and completed it.

Later we talked to the Eenadu News reporter regarding the village issues and local problemsto be solved. After lunch, some of the volunteers accompanied by the Village vice sarpanchwent to the agricultural fields. We observed the crops, yield of each crop and their yearlyincome. Later we talked to the Doctors for next day medical camp and prepared to conduct acamp there.

DAY-7: 19-03-2015

We conducted a free medical camp in collaboration with the GayatriVidyaParishadHospital,5 Doctors attended the medical camp . Volunteers helped in bringing the people andsupplying medicines. Free medicinesare also provided to the patients. The people who needspecial assistance are referred to the Hospital on the next day. From morning 9:30 am to 2:30pm medical camp continued.

With the help of the medical camp the villagers got good health check-up’s and validsuggestions from the doctors.
