    Speaker Application for IMC USA Confab 2010

    The Confab Committee for 2010 is seeking speakers who are interested inpresenting their thoughts, ideas, and skills to the attendees of ourconference for management consultants by management consultants.

    Confab 2010 begins on Saturday, October 23 and ends Monday October 25.The venue is the Silver Legacy Casino and Hotel in Reno, Nevada.

    This years theme is Build Your Business. Presentations should focus on thehow to of laying foundations for growth, growing consulting practices,diversifying products and services offered, forming consulting alliances, andsimilar topics. Presentations are expected to allow attendees to take awaysomething concrete that allows them to complete one or two steps ingrowing their consulting practice, increasing their value to their clients, ormaking them more successful.

    The audience is a mix of experienced consultants and individuals who arejust entering the profession. We typically present topics that appeal to thoseattendees who are launching a practice, refining their consulting skills, orexpanding their practice. We are seeking speakers who can connect withthese audiences and move them forward with their consulting skills and themanagement of their consulting practices.

    Speakers receive the following benefits:

    Listing in the Confab Conference materials that will be widely distributed to

    numerous professional organizations.

    A press release template you may send out to your local or regional press.

    Listing on the Confab web-site, including a link to your own Web-site. Listing in Confab Conference Directory of Attendees & Speakers.

    Access to promotional materials (post cards, email templates and other

    materials) for distribution to your professional network. Please note that

    anyone from your network who registers to attend Confab can do so at amember rate.

    Encouragement to participate in exchanges on the IMC USA Confab blog. Thisprovides speakers with further exposure and allows you to connect with

    potential attendees before Confab starts, during Confab and after Confabends.

    Access to a Speakers and Committee lounge area with room to meet, work,

    have coffee and snacks, etc. during the conference.

    An excellent opportunity to share your knowledge and experiences with peers.

    The possibility exists to convert Confab presentations to IMC USA Academyofferings that are offered to IMC USA members and consultants via webinars

    and similar venues. The creators and deliverers of any presentations that areincluded in Academy offerings are compensated for their work as long as they

    are offered by the Academy.

    We encourage all speakers to contact clients and colleagues and inform themthat you are speaking at Confab and invite them to attend. All of your

    colleagues and clients who attend may do so at the IMC USA member rate.We will provide you with a special code for them to register.

    Ability to sell or promote your materials and books (at Confab outside of your

    session).

    A summary of feedback provided by session attendees.

    Nonstop networking opportunities with 200 or more experienced professionaland successful consultants.

    Each speaker is assigned a host to ensure that their A/V and other venue

    needs are met. The host will introduce the speaker at their session and assistthe speaker as needed during the session.

    After we receive speaker applications, the Confab Committee and other IMCUSA members interview the references provided by each speaker. This groupof people may also spend more time with each potential speaker discussingthe presentation topic, answering speaker questions, and other matters as

    appropriate associated with Confab, the venue, etc. Based on the inputgathered by this group of people a final set of speakers is selected andinvited to participate in Confab.

    Speakers are allowed to and encouraged to sell copies of their publications to Confab attendees during theconference.     General Guidance for Speakers

    Accepted Confab Speakers, Presenters, and Panelists will be asked toagree to:

    Be responsive to Confab Program Committee and conference

    organizers and meet all deadlines. Provide for your own registration, travel and lodging expenses.

    Registration for all speakers will be offered at a member ratediscounted by $100. A special registration code will be providedto speakers once they have been accepted and scheduled.

    Agree to edits and/or revision requests to ensure alignment ofsubmitted presentation materials with your submitted learningobjective and practice stage, and style guidelines.

    Provide a professional quality photograph for use in conferencepromotion.

    Deliver the presentation materials and handouts submitted perthe deadlines shown on page 2 above. The Confab committeenormally limits handouts to no more than 8 or 9 pages. Thecommittee makes copies for distribution to session attendees.Soft copies of presentations are normally made available toattendees about two weeks prior to Confab to help in sessionselection, download and print for note taking, etc.

    Please submit by the deadline shown above soft copies of yourpresentation preferably in a Power Point file. We will use thePage Set Up to produce a black and white three up printout with

    room for notes for use by conference attendees. We will alsoconvert this file to a pdf file for more universal readability and toprevent any alteration of the file. Please note that attendeesusually download presentation copies and either print them outfor note taking or copy them to their laptops prior to attendingsessions.

    Electronically sign the Terms of Engagement agreement.

    Attend a great conference, meet and learn from hundreds ofprofessionals, and have a fabulous time.

    Please note that Confab does not normally compensate speakers, but willconsider compensation for preconference workshops and keynotepresentation. This means that speakers must register for the conference ifthey plan to stay for the duration, and attend functions and sessions.

    Terms ofEngagementConfab requires each speaker and workshop presenter to adhere to the

    following Terms of Engagement prior to and during the Confab conference.

    I will:

    Work closely with Confab conference organizers and meet all deadlines.

    Work cooperatively to refine my presentation to ensure clarity and toalign with the conference theme and presentation requirements.

    Coordinate and receive Confab approval for changes in content, format,audio/visual needs, room set-up, identity or number of presenters.

    Design and provide high-quality materials in MS Word (Handouts, forms,tables, etc.) and PowerPoint (Presentation) format. As a matter of form,

    please be sensitive to color combinations that interfere with readability,extremely busy and unreadable slides, too small text, and other issuesthat make it difficult for attendees to understand your presentation. A setof presentation guidelines is available on the Confab web site for your useat this link .

    Honor the Confab Conference intent and recognize that my presentation isan opportunity to share information and not a showcase for promotion ofmy business, practice, services or products.

    Refrain from selling my products or services in my presentation.

    Respect IMC USA as the sponsoring organization with either positive or

    neutral comments, either written or oral, before and during theConference.

    Unless expressly forbidden, allow Confab to reproduce submittedmaterials on the Confab website for distribution or promotion by Confab.
