Joint Industry Solutions Series - Reducing Rig Site Manning via Remote Operations and Automation The drilling industry had always emphasised safety through meticulous supervision by experienced hands at rig site, and sufficient person- nel to avoid fatigue. This approach, together with much-improved safety processes, have seen the numbers of personnel on rigs rise over the years, to such an extent that today, 30% to 40% of rig operating cost comes from manpower. While safety records improved significantly over the past decades, it has now reached a plateau while the industry looks for another breakthrough. For a few years now, service providers have developed automation technologies, however, the adoption of these technologies has been significantly slow as operators around the world contemplate the risks of reduced manning. The session will explore automation solutions that enable autonomous operations in the region and other parts of the world. These solutions will be readily available for integration, and to address value creation and the complexity of their adoption. The session will also discuss challenges faced by completion installations, how technology and automation can address those challenges, and help to remove and/or reduce the complexity of the current utilised methods. The fundamental plan is to explore technology solutions that can be implemented to reduce complexity, and to look at recent case histories of remote operations to better understand best practices in order to leverage meaningful implementation moving forward. The expectation is to identify key areas where completion installations can be simplified, which in turn would open additional opportunities for remote operations with an acceptable risk profile.

The case studies will also address key areas related to risk management, infrastructure such as connectivity and latency, data management, and operational limitations, and regulatory and governance issues. The expectation is to encourage more learnings and best practices to better navigate the processes of reducing rig site manning via remote operations and automation, as a new normal, to create value.

Registration Fee • Registration for this virtual workshop is personal to Participant. Viewing and materials may not be shared with non-

registered individuals without express consent from SPE. • Each participant is limited to maximum of two (2) devices to access/login into the virtual workshop. • Registration is non-transferable without written notification to SPE. • Registration of participation will only be confirmed upon receipt of full payment or an acceptable employer’s letter of

guarantee. • SPE reserves the right to cancel the registration if no payment is received prior to or on the date of the virtual workshop. • Full fee is charged regardless of the length of time the Participant attends the virtual workshop and cannot be pro-rated.

Taxes • Fees are made free and clear of, and without any deduction or withholding for and on account of, any taxes, duties or

other deductions. Any such deduction or withholding, if required by the laws of any country are the sole responsibility of the participant.

Cancellation Policy • A processing fee of USD 50.00 per person will be charged for cancellation received before 9 November 2020. • No refund for cancellation received after 9 November 2020. • Participants who failed to attend will not be eligible for a refund. • Cancellation must be notified in writing to SPE.
