It is a matter of immense elation and ecstasy for Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University
(PDPU) to present to you the PDPU SPE Fest, 2015. Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University
has been expanding opportunities for students and professionals to develop and
nurture their intellect and core knowledge with desired leadership skills to compete in
the global arena. School of Petroleum Technology (SPT) has been set up under Pandit
Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) as a centre of excellence to develop human
resources to cater to the petroleum and allied energy sectors, improve knowledge
base of technologists and provide a competitive edge to professionals in global arena.
This flagship event is an amalgamation of powerful eminences of the petroleum industry
with the ignited, zealous minds of students all over the world. The fest provides platforms
to the burgeoning cocoon of thoughts, ideas and opinions from the students. The
university invites u to partake in the fest and avail the most of it. The PDPU SPE Students
Chapter hopes that you would appreciate our endeavours and beseeches your

It gives me immense pleasure to welcome all of you to PDPU SPE Fest, 2015 organized by
PDPU SPE Students Chapter.
With the advancements in science and technology, PDPU SPE Students Chapter has
taken an initiative to gather industry professionals, academicians and young minds onto
a single platform to exchange fresh ideas and information. The event will also host
experts from Oil & Gas industry and will encourage participants to indulge into
exhaustive brainstorming and learning sessions.
The PDPU SPE Students Chapter welcomes you all and seeks your benign presence at
our premises. I hope that the fest will be an enriching and enlightening experience for all
the participants.

I feel proud to extend an invitation to one and all to the PDPU SPE FEST'15. This fest will provide a unique platform where students and professionals from different spectra of petroleum engineering will come together, compete and learn through plethora of events lined up in this three day festival.
The fest will be a learning experience for all the participants from various universities across the nation, and will also provide a great platform to showcase their talent.This fest will be a step towards a new teaching-learning process and will prepare the students for hands-on-experience necessary for the modern day industries. The showcase is expected to be the biggest fest in the south-east Asia orchestrated jointly by students and faculties of School of Petroleum Technology. I whole-heartedly thank one and all associated with the fest in one way or another.

exponentially and is playing a vital role in revolutionizing the global industry. The
developed countries are at the forefront of research and development in these areas
and hence have fostered further technological advancements For this, spreading
awareness and encouraging the youth to participate in relevant activities is essential.
It gives me immense pleasure to welcome all of you to PDPU SPE Fest, 2015 organized by
PDPU SPE Students Chapter. This Fest is a great platform for the young engineers to
showcase their talent in the field of Oil and Gas and also helpful to exchange
technological know-how to improve further. I believe we still have a long way to go as
compared to the other developed countries but we can surely make it if we have faith in
our capabilities and talent. All we need is a little push to make our mark, prove our
mettle, and the contests like this can make us realize our goals.

About PDPUPandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar, promoted by Gujrat State
Petroleum Corporation Limited (GSPC) is a domain specific University in the field of
education and research with a special focus on energy and allied sectors. GSPC is a
diversified company having significant presence in the entire value chain of
hydrocarbon sector. It intends to expand the opportunities, for the students and
professionals to develop and nurture their intellect and core knowledge with desired
leadership skills to complete in the global arena. This objective is being addressed
through a number of specialised and well planned undergraduate, post-graduate and
doctorate programmes set in a research enabling environment.
About SPT Energy and energy infrastructure are critical to any economy for development and
sustainability. We, at School of Petroleum Technology (SPT), envisaged the increasing
needs for well trained engineers suited in the sector, and started the B.Tech.
programme with a focus on the Oil & Gas sector. School of Petroleum Technology has

PDPU SPE Student Chapter bears a plethora of events
that were appreciated by the students and the allied
professionals who were the part of the same. Serving
as a token of distinguished performance and the
appreciation, PDPU SPE Student Chapter stands the
only SPE Student Chapter in India to have bagged
four consecutive Gold Standard Awards from SPE
International. The Chapter with affiliation of SPE
International for the PDPU SPE Fest ‘15 is going to
deliver a prodigious Fest.

Showcase Showcase is Technical Paper and Poster presentation contest inviting new ideas and
research investigations pursued by the contestants. The aim of contest is to provide
platform to budding new minds pursuing careers in oil and gas sector. The event
provides opportunities to students from every nook & cranny of the globe to showcase
their ideas about the present day petroleum engineering innovations. The event holds
the pivot of this global colloquium.
Apotheosis The present day industry of oil & gas has boomed indefinitely and has successfully
transcended the palisades of unforeseen barriers. This flourish, as if typical of its kind,
brings about a lot of incommodities and infeasibilities along. This competition invites all
those potential contenders who can model and showcase effective solutions to the
liabilities faced by the oil and gas industries worldwide. The competition engenders a
sterling bridge between the industry and the academe. It provides a platform to a
budding petroleum engineer to showcase their ideas and subsequently share them with
the luminaries from different disciplines of the petroleum industry .
Examen Students shall be provided with data in relation to a particular problem or a situation,
they shall be required to evaluate the Case Study and provide their recommendations
and directions regarding it. Participants shall be scrutinized based on their interpretations
which shall help test the skill and ability of students to develop a holistic solution to the
problem placed before them. It shall provide a chance to the participating students to
showcase their managerial and technical dexterity by analyzing the issues faced in the
Petroleum Industries.
ExegesisExegesis intends to allow participants to utilize basic principles of a well logging in
deciphering Petrophysical properties of formation such as porosity, mineralogy,
formation factor, saturation and hydrocarbon type, for essentially clean reservoirs. The
competition of this kind shall be highly productive from the perspective that participants
gain realistic experience by working in teams on a comprehensive log interpretation
exercise.
Mud-O-Gee Drilling Mud is a prime source of vitality in a well and plays an important role in safe and
effectual drilling. Mud Challenge is a riveting event that invites students to test and brag
their knowledge of preparation, composition and properties of a drilling mud.
So let us all go mudding this PDPU SPE Fest!
Final Project Do you think your project is better than others?

If affirmative, this the perfect platform to present your Final Year projects and get the hat
tip you deserve. The aim is recognition of indicative project ideas by eminent
professionals and scientists from the oil industry.
Bid Your Block VIRTUAL BLOCK BIDDING is an event in which the participating students will acquire an
understanding and get practical exposure of bidding process in the Oil & Gas industry.
The event will commence with the brief session on NELP BIDDING, followed by a Virtual
Block Bidding competition and the evaluation of the block allocated to them using
the data given. The event is aimed to build an interest among the participating students
in bidding process imparting them an understanding of the same & help the future
Petroleum engineers by enlightening them about the entire gamut of the industry.
Quid Pro QuoDo you know where to invest?
Quid Pro Quo is a spot Trading competition is an excellent opportunity for you to
understand the working of Finance and trading in oil and gas sector. Group of
participants must interpret the data and put in their stakes in the kind of crude, they
believe to have superior quality. Their stakes will undergo gain or losses according to the
decision of the panelists.
Are you the next Warren Buffett?
Technical Session Let the industry teach you! Update yourself when you meet the experts from the industry.
Get hold of information about changes in the technology that were used and the new
ones in use. Thus making fest more than a mere competition.
Interact with the experts as they share their experience; and get a chance share your
own ideas with them!
Catechize This shall be the ultimate platform for petroleum enthusiasts to prove expanse of their
knowledge and understanding of the hydrocarbon sector from source to consumer
level. Drawing in questions from all the thinkable spheres ,both technical and
non-technical of interest which bear the relation. The Hydrocarbon Exploration,
Production & producing sectors ,participants should be battle it out and test their buzzing
minds trying to crack the questions that are asked. The quiz shall have 2 prelims from
which the top 6 teams shall make cut to the finals to be held at the college.
Sketch ’d Imagination + Art + Skills
Like those T’s with crazy graffiti on and with witty quotes to test one’s humor. It’s your
chance to design a petroleum themed T-shirt for SPE PDPU Fest this year and grab
yourself a chance to get your design printed and made available for all your peers to
see and of course wear, just by getting maximum Facebook likes.

Futsal A fun event for everyone to participate and compete. You will dribble, pass and shoot to
receive glory this SPE PDPU Fest.
