The Clemson Career Workshop (CCW) is a summer program designed to support readiness of high-achieving students from diverse populations to enter college. CCW enables rising high school seniors an opportunity to get an inside look into Clemson University while learning tips and tools needed to prepare for college and beyond. Furthermore, CCW provides students exposure to areas in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), arts and humanities, and social and behavioral sciences. The camp will run from Sunday, July 10 through Friday, July 15, 2016. What the program includes:

Live on campus in the residence halls with all meals covered Academic courses and experiential learning opportunities Sessions on college preparation and life skills Interact with Clemson students, faculty, staff, and alumni And more….

The program is Sunday, July 10 – Friday, July 15 at Clemson University. Who is eligible to apply? Students who will be seniors in the 2016-17 academic year are eligible to apply. What if I don’t live in South Carolina? You do not have to be a resident of South Carolina to participate in the program. What happens after I apply? Applications will be reviewed. You will receive a letter of acceptance or non- acceptance in the program. If you are accepted into the program, you will receive additional information to secure your seat. What if I cannot afford the $100 program fee? Please do not let the fee discourage you to apply. Limited scholarships will be available for students based on financial need. You will receive this information if you are accepted into the program. Will there be other expenses after the $100 program fee? No. You will not incur any other fees during the time of the program. However, you are responsible for your own travel to get to and from Clemson University. What type of academic courses will be offered? The academic courses will focus on STEM, however, there will be other courses added based on demand. Do I get credit for the academic courses? Since this program is only a week, there is not any course credit for it. However, you will learn great information and be exposed to our amazing faculty.

2016 SECOND SEMESTER EXAMINATION SCHEDULE

SENIOR EXAMS Senior exams will be given on May 11 (1st and 2nd), 12 (3rd and 4th), 13 (5th, 6th, 7th). The exams will begin at 8am in the cafeteria. Seniors not exempting an exam will follow the posted schedule for exams. Only seniors graduating in May are eligible to exempt examinations. This exemption applies only to second semester. Students in Advanced Placement courses are not required to take final exams in those courses since they have taken an AP Exam. Students in courses requiring an End-of-Course test are not required to take final exams in those courses since they have an EOCT. Please see the exam schedule posted in your classrooms. 1. Only seniors may exempt examinations. Seniors who do not exempt exams must take their exams according to the above schedule. NO EXCEPTIONS. 2. This exemption applies only to second semester. 3. ON MAY 9 DURING CLASS, TEACHERS WILL NOTIFY THE SENIORS WHO EXEMPTED THEIR EXAM. 4. Students are to remain in examinations during the entire period and all students are to take exams at the regularly scheduled time. All attendance records must be maintained during exams. If you are not able to key in your absences (substitute in the room), please send the names of the students who are absent to the appropriate attendance office. Students are NOT AUTOMATICALLY excused from their study hall during exams. If a student does not want to come to his/her study hall during exams, (s)he must be excused by the parent/ guardian. Some students will have to be in study hall because of their transportation situation. If a student is tardy to an exam: 1. Admit the student; however DO NOT ADD the missed time to the end of the exam. (The exam must be turned in at the end of the regular exam period. 2. Submit a referral to the appropriate attendance office. Students missing an exam MUST have written approval from their assistant principal to make-up the exam. If a student is unlawfully absent, (s)he will NOT be allowed to make-up the exam. A student has 10 school days to take the examination. All exams must be made up by June 13. FACULTY: ALL SENIOR GRADES ARE DUE TO MRS. BONARDI NO LATER THAN 10:00 AM, MAY 16th. Junior and Sophomore grades are due no later than 10:00 AM, May 31st.

SPECIAL 7 READS ANNOUNCEMENT After receiving feedback from students, teachers, and the community, the 7Reads committee decided to make a change. Instead of having students choose from a list of books, read them over the summer, and then hear an author, the students will hear the author first. Actually, the students will get to meet three authors – Erin Lange, James McTeer, and Greg Neri. After they meet the authors on September 12th in a special assembly, each student will get the opportunity to pick from a list of six books: five from the authors listed above and one from Wes Moore who they met March 9th, 2016. Stay tuned for more details about the 7Reads program.

WHAT: SENIOR FIELD DAY (SENIORS ONLY) WHERE: SHS Fields WHEN: April 22nd. Seniors will report as normal to first

period. Seniors will be called down to the cafeteria for a brief meeting to distribute yearbooks and discuss logistics. Yearbook distribution – the first book will be given to the class president.

THINGS TO KNOW: During field day there should be NO VISITORS.

Students may not enter into the building. No water guns will be allowed. Students will be dismissed at 12:30 but are required to attend Senior Recognition Night to be counted present for this day.

WHAT: SENIOR RECOGNITION NIGHT WHERE: SHS Gym WHEN: April 25th - program begins at 7:00 PM. Seniors

need to arrive by 6:15 PM. THINGS TO KNOW: Cap and gown should be worn. No designs on

the caps.

WHAT: GRADUATION DAY WHERE: Wofford College (Gibbs Stadium) WHEN: May 20th (morning – breakfast 9:30 – 10:30).

Seniors should arrive by 9:30 AM. Raffle prizes will be awarded throughout the breakfast. You don’t want to miss the first raffle prize at 9:45. REHEARSAL will start at 10:30 AM. The initial rehearsal meeting will be in the Benjamin Johnson Arena. Rehearsal will be in Gibbs Stadium after the initial meeting.

THINGS TO KNOW: Students will receive report cards, graduation

tickets, and fee notices. All fees must be paid by 3:00 PM. The length of rehearsal will depend on your promptness and attentiveness. Come prepared to stay until rehearsal is over. No one will be excused early. Students should be dismissed by 1:00 PM. Students should arrive back by 6:30 PM. Graduation Ceremony at Gibbs Stadium will start at 7:30. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Benjamin Johnson Arena.

WHAT: SENIOR FEES WHEN: DUE 3:00 PM ON FRIDAY, MAY 20, 2016 THINGS TO KNOW: Seniors must take care of ALL delinquent fees

by 3:00 PM on Friday, May 20th. The diploma of any person who has not paid his/her fee by the deadline will be pulled. You will receive a bill in lieu of your diploma. Fees include IDs, transcripts, parking fines, library fines, books not returned, DMTC, cafeteria fees, etc.
