ICT TECHNOLOGIES: SOCIAL INNOVATION: PILOT TEST ON MUNICIPAL BASIC INCOME IN BARCELONA The Data Management Group (DAMA UPC) is developing the soware technology for a pilot project on municipal basic income in Barcelona. The aim of the project is to determine the effecveness of various kinds of cash benefits and services (such as access to housing, educaon and employment), to beer fight against urban poverty. The objecve is also to reach conclusions about how to improve the coordinaon and effecveness of services offered in the same region, and how to ensure that people who receive a basic income gain independence, so that they become less dependent on public subsidies in the long-term. The project, called B-Mincome, was presented by Barcelona and was one of 15 selected as part of the European project Urban Innovave Acon (UIA). It has received 4.85 million euros of funding, which covers 80% of the total cost of the project. Other parcipants are Barcelona City Council, the Young Foundaon, the Instute of Governance and Public Policies (IGOP), the centre for social innovaon Nova, and the IESE Business School. The conclusions will be presented in October 2019. Five innovave soluons developed by CREB UPC within the field of medical technologies were presented by their own researchers. These could have a strong impact in coming years: a project on the possibility of carrying out neurological experiments using low cost equipment; bioprinng of ssues with idencal characteriscs to meat that would be accessible to all consumers; a digital cognive plaorm to enhance competences of children with intellectual disabilies and neurodevelopmental disorders; a project for pelvic floor rehabilitaon at home using serious games and a Mobile plaorm, and a serious game for people with intellectual disabilies to learn social skills in a work environment.
