• Oglethorpe was called to Great Britain to answer charges against him.

• He was cleared of the charges but he did not return to Georgia.

• The climate made growing silk impossible. The mulberry trees would not grow silk.

• Other colonies with slaves were more successful and made money.

• “Malcontents” and other Georgia colonists wanted alcohol, slaves, and more land.

• Majority of them were very unhappy and constantly complained

• Georgia was supposed to be a trustee colony for 21 years, however with only one year

left with the charter the trustees gave the power and control back to the King.

• It took two years to transition. Georgia would not get its first official royal governor until 1754.
