e In addition to coursework aimed at developing the four language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing), our offerings include courses in Spanish language for the professions (such as business and medicine), linguistics, literature, civilization and culture.

Students with Spanish language skills are in high demand locally, nationally, and internationally. Additionally, all of our Spanish courses emphasize cultural competence. Armed with Spanish language skills and cross-cultural understanding, our graduates are equipped to participate meaningfully in world discourse.

The Spanish major offers a flexible curriculum that prepares students for a wide variety of career fields as well as future professional studies and advanced degrees in Spanish. Within the Spanish major, four Concentrations are available: Applied Spanish, Peninsular Spanish Literature and Culture, Spanish American Literature and Culture, and Spanish Translation and Interpretation.
