Teacher: Good morning, class! Today is a very special day. I want everyone to say hello to our new friend Miguel. He will be joining our class!Kids: Hi Miguel! Hello! Welcome! Hi!

Teacher: Miguel speaks two languages: English and Spanish. He speaks Spanish at home and English in school. I want everyone to include Miguel and be his friend.

We can all help him learn English, and maybe he will teach us a few Spanish words in return. Wouldn’t that be fun!?Kids: Yay! Cool! Yippie! Hooray! Neat! (clapping & jabbering)

Jane: Miss Smith?Teacher: Yes, Jane?Jane: What are we learning about today? Teacher: Great question, Jane.

Today, we are going to be learning all about farm animals! We will learn 5 animals and the different sounds they each make!

Miguel, will you help us learn the Spanish words for each animal? Miguel: Si, Señora! I will!Teacher: Oh, Perfect. Thank you Miguel!

Alright, well let’s begin. Everyone put on your listening ears. I will play the first animal’s sound. Raise your hand when you figure out what it is!

(Horse) NAYYY Teacher: Yes, Jane. Jane: Miss Smith! Horsies nay! I visited a farm once and rode a horse! His name was Mervin. Mervin the horse!

Teacher: That’s right, Jane! Great job! Nay is what a horse says. Miguel, how do you say “horse” in Spanish?

Miguel: Caballo!

Teacher: Can everyone say horse in Spanish?! Repeat after me… Caballo.Kids: CABALLO!Teacher: Good work! Now listen carefully to this next animal and raise your hand to tell me what it is.

(Cow- Moo) Teacher: Henry, what animal do you think makes that sound?Henry: Cows!

Teacher: You’re right, Henry. Cows say moo.

Henry: Miguel! Teach us how to say cow in Spanish!

Miguel: Vaca. Teacher: Can everyone say “vaca”?Kids: VACA!Teacher: Excellent. Is everyone ready for the next one? Listen closely!

(Pig- Oink)

Teacher: Yes, Samantha? Have you heard that animal before? What animal oinks?Samantha: Piggies oink, Miss Smith!

Teacher: Yes, pigs do oink and they love to roll around in the mud on the farm. Miguel, how do you say pig in Spanish?

Miguel: Cerdo! Teacher: Why don’t we all give it a try...Kids: CERDO!Teacher: Great job everybody! Alright, I want everyone to listen closely to the next one. Here it is…

(Sheep- Bah) Teacher: Who wants to give it a try? Olivia?Olivia: It sounds like a sheep!

Teacher: You are absolutely correct, Olivia. Sheep say bah.

Christopher: My grandpa has sheeps on his farm…Teacher: That is so neat, Christopher.

Sheep are raised for the wool that they grow. What is the Spanish word for sheep, Miguel?

Miguel: Oveja.Teacher: Oveja. Can everyone repeat that?

Kids: OVEJA!Teacher: You all sound so good! Is everyone ready for our last farm animal for today? I want you to shout it out when they know the answer. What animal makes this sound on the farm, very early in the morning?

(Rooster- cock-a-doodle-doo)Kids: A Wooster! Rooster! Wooster!

Teacher: [chuckles] Oh my! Yes, you are all correct! A rooster says cock-a-doodle-doo! Miguel, help us out with this one last animal. How do you say rooster?

Miguel: Gallo! Teacher: Let’s say it together...Kids: GALLO!

Teacher: Excellent work everybody! Let’s give ourselves a round of applause for learning 5 farm animals and the different sounds they each make!

(Claps/Cheering) Teacher: And can we give a special round of applause and thank you to Miguel for helping us learn the Spanish words for each animal?

Kids: Thanks Miguel! Thank you! (claps)
