- Seating Chart, use sticky notes and assign students to numbers - Hand out syllabus as students enter the classroom - Go over syllabus, pass out classroom procedures while quizzing students on syllabus - Go over classroom procedures, candy toss - Choose names, write it on seating chart - Handout basic Spanish phrases/words and have students match them up with the English equivalent

Thursday, 8/8 - Introduce yourself to others, names, Respond to classroom directions
- “Meet and Greet”, useful sentences in Spanish class
- Roll over work from the day before - Meet and greet, students fill out a worksheet where they ask each other questions - Complete the useful sentences worksheet on the back of the meet and greet - Conjuguemos demonstration; choose a student to sign up for conjuguemos and show them how to work the website

Friday, 8/9 - Respond to classroom directions, map, alphabet
- Teach students about the map and the Spanish alphabet
- Warm-up; go over useful expressions - hand out alphabet worksheet (with blank clocks for next week’s activities), go over proper pronunciation of letters. - sing the marching song with the alphabet - play hangman using useful expressions - name-game: students spell their names for the class and must repeat everyone’s names as they go along.

- Spell out words, go over vocabulary words, Numbers 0-100
- Warm-up; spell out words (deletrea y pronuncia?) - Introduce vocabulary list with PowerPoint - Teach numbers to students by handing them easy math problems where they must write the answer out in Spanish (not in the numerical form, but with letters) - Introduce the clocks and give them the time with the basic hours, such as eight o’clock, five o’clock, one o’clock.

Tuesday, 8/13 -Tell time - Teach students to recognize and read time
- Warm-up; spell and pronounce - Recap of numbers by having students answer the math questions on their personal boards - While students still have their boards out, give them times that they have to write out on their boards - Play a recap time game: one volunteer per team goes up to the board. Then, another volunteer in that team must call out a time. If the time called out matches the one written on the board, they get a point.

Wednesday, 8/14 - Read and fill in
gaps for basic dialogues, learn body parts
- Have students complete dialogues by using their new vocabulary, as well as be able to sing a song about body parts in Spanish.
- Warm-up; times - Pass out individual whiteboards and have students listen to five different dialogues where they must determine whether the dialogue is logical or illogical. - Pass out workbooks, have students write their names on the books, and complete pages 1 and 2. - Introduce the body, give students the lyrics for them to complete, then sing and do TPR (total physical response) with the students along with the song.

Thursday, 8/15 - Recognize numbers, Conjuguemos, Dialogue
- Review numbers - Practice dialogue - Create skit
- Warm-up; body parts based on picture (for example, my ____ hurts – picture of a head) - Hand student a dialogue where they have to listen to the dialogue and state whether it is logical or illogical. - Then, complete a dialogue by choosing the correct response out of two. - Then, unscramble a dialogue. - Finally, work with a partner to complete a dialogue by having one person ask questions and the other partner has the response to their partner’s questions. - Play Simon says with classroom directions.

Friday, 8/16 - Assessment - Analyze student progress

- Students will communicate in Spanish using Schoolshape
- Workbook activities pgs 5 and 6. - Introduce a new game, play a round of “bluff”. Students split into two teams and are asked a series of questions about vocabulary. If the students on the teams know what the words are, they stand. The opposing team then chooses a standing student to answer the teacher’s question.
