DAY 5 Depart for Granada, where the castles and the Moorish architecture reign supreme. Visit the Palace of Alhambra and Generalife Gardens, the most beautiful medieval building of Arab art in the world. Located on a hill called Assabica (red), it completely dominates the city. The Gardens of Generalife, with their magnificent fountains, were a resting place for the Nazarid kings. You will enjoy a fresh and relaxing break and listen to the tranquil sound of the water in this lovely place.

DAY 6 After a week full of cultural exploration and historical immersions, why not rest the feet and enjoy a day of relaxation at the Mediterranean resort town of Torremolinos. Enjoy the beaches of El Bajondillo and La Carihuela, or walk the streets of Calle San Miguel or Plaza de la Costa del Sol to fully understand the culture of the city.

Explore some of the other important sights that include the Pimental Tower for which the city is named after (“torre de los molinos”). There is also the Casa de las Navajas, which is a historical palace attracting masses of tourists to witness its grandeur. With plenty to see and do, Torremolinos is the perfect cap to a week filled with fun adventure.

DAY 7 With new friends, new experiences and a new culture to bring back to America, it is time to depart back for home.

Broadway Theatre district. You also will be able to celebrate one of Madrid’s most popular pastimes as you enter the Real Madrid FC Museum and see a full display of this city treasure.

DAY 3 With another great hotel breakfast to start the day, enjoy more morning adventures in Madrid before it is time to head off to the mesmerizing city of Cordoba. As the former capital of Islamic Spain, it boasts La Mezquita, one of the largest, most beautiful and essential Mosques in all of the world. There are over 850 columns in the famed hypostyle hall, with jasper, granite, marble and onyx making up the intricate structures. Students are able to devote a large chunk of the day to exploring this immensely important global structure, with a fascinating origin dating back to the 8th century AD.

DAY 4 This morning brings you to the capital of Andalucia: Seville, Spain. You can see some of the amazing architecture for yourself by visiting Seville Cathedral and Giralda. It is both a UNESCO Heritage Site and the largest Gothic Cathedral in the world, while the Giralda towers above as its bell tower. Continue to explore the city and see premiere destinations located within the Quarter of Santa Cruz and Maria Luis Park. Afterwards, students have the amazing opportunity to enjoy a wonderful dinner with a display of one of Andalucia’s most treasured art forms: Flamenco. The rhythmic guitar and lively dancing couple together to create an unforgettable, signature Seville experience during your meal.

TRIP DETAILS AT A GLANCE DAY 1 Arrive in Madrid, Spain’s glowing capital and immediately become thrust into the architectural masterpiece that is this city. The group begins by travelling to San Lorenzo Escorial, home to a monastery that was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984. The rich history that fills the walls and lies at the foot of Mount Abantos makes this a truly special place and the ideal spot to kick off the tour.

After lunch at a local restaurant, the group returns to the city for a comprehensive guided city tour. Among the primary sites that you will see, a visit to the Royal Palace, where you can see the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family. The pristine grounds are extravagant and elegant in every which way, with massive murals and impressive marble features. You may also choose to relax in the beautiful Plaza Mayor or walk around the Parque del Buen Retiro, where an artificial lake is surrounded by the incomparable greenery and lush gardens that rival the best of European city gardens.

DAY 2 A delicious breakfast in the hotel starts the day and sends the students on their morning journey to Toledo, an excursion that provides a break from the city and embraces the religious and artistic roots of the region. With Gothic Cathedrals and sprawling canvases, the only thing that surpasses the beauty within the city is the amazing panoramic views of the city beneath this hilltop community.

Return to Madrid for a panoramic city tour. Follow along some of the main streets like Gran Via avenue and Castellana Avenue to see everything from monumental fountains to the Spanish version of the
