Community Engagement
Community engagement is a critical component to the success of Milieu’s development projects. Milieu views community engagement as an essential part of the development process beginning with consulting prospective purchasers on potential opportunities through to wider community consultation on the project and its impacts.
— We believe the best design involves a process which brings together the needs and information of people – good design should be for people and should have their input in a practical and effectively managed manner.
— Encouraging community opinion and contributing to the conversation around higher density living is central to our business. Milieu now hosts an Open Home series to invite the community to view recently completed projects.
— Milieu publishes a twice annual Broadsheet publication – Melbourne Milieu. This publication explores the spaces and places of inner Melbourne as well as encouraging discussion about higher density living and good design. 20,000 copies of this publication are distributed throughout Melbourne.
— Milieu recently published a guide to the selection and maintenance of indoor plants. Plants by Milieu in collaboration with Looseleaf is an example of the work outside of development undertaken by Milieu to encourage happiness in high density living.

Boutique in scale, Peel employs a contemporary approach to living that delivers timeless elegance. Melbourne architects, DKO, have created a strong, unique aesthetic that both complements and contributes to the urban fabric – articulating a single form through racking angles, a white brick aesthetic and metal-hooded windows. With a focus on the most liveable use of spaces, the building has been oriented to the north to provide this aspect to the apartments. Inside, Collingwood’s DesignOffice have crafted clean, simple interiors with their signature bespoke design philosophy. The attention to detail is obvious but understated – the finishing, resolution and consideration of the space has been carefully nurtured. The end result is a well resolved and well-considered space, inside and out.

Campbell Street is a pair of vertical dwellings cleverly configured on a 76m2 parcel of land in Collingwood. A great example of vertical living, both dwellings include garage parking, light-filled interiors and a rooftop terrace. Steel and raw concrete forms draw inspiration from Collingwood’s industrial past, with textured timbers adding warmth to the interiors. The project was designed in collaboration with DKO Architecture and Slab Architecture and constructed by Milieu Built.
