SPACE Solar Powered Adaptive Container for Everyone

    Introduction:

Employing patent-pending design and material innovation, SPACE is a sustainable workspace

and mobile solar generator made up of four major components: an up-cycled 20 ft. x 8 ft.

shipping container housing a climate controlled work/ storage space, a proprietary solar rackcapable of producing up to 5 kW of solar power, a self-contained battery end-cap with 5 days of

battery backup, and an advanced renewable energy power management system. Fully

integrated, SPACE units are capable of accommodating job site activities, special events, andemergency response operations.

Because shipping containers are made to travel in extreme conditions, they are robustly built

and are ideal for affordable structures that require mobility, security, and reliability. By

combining the container strength with engineered green building components, this system canwithstand hurricane force winds, travel securely with panels attached and wired, and be

operational within an hour of deployment. SPACE has been permitted, tested, and complies with

    building codes.

Purchase and leasing options are available, and units can be customized to user specifications.

All SPACE units are built in Houston, TX.

    SPACE Specifications:

PV System Size: 3.5 kW to 5 kW from Twenty to Thirty 175 Watt Panels Producing an Estimated

15-18 KWh/ Day (In the 5 kW system, an additional row of ten panels is included to supplement

critical power requirements through the use of PV Pods, SPACEs proprietary and cost effectivesolution to mounting solar panels to flat surfaces using water filled plastic molds.)

Battery Capacity: 5 Days Battery Backup Using Sealed AGM Solar Batteries

Additional Solar/ Battery Equipment: Solar Inverter with On and Off Grid Mode, Battery ChargeController, and 2 KW Backup Gas Generator (For optimum battery performance, it is advised to

keep batteries charged to at least 50% capacity at all times. The backup gas generator

maintains this charge in the event of prolonged low solar exposure.)

Interior SPACE Features: High Efficiency Mini-Split HVAC, CFL and LED Lighting, and MultiplePower Outlets (Cabinetry, Millwork, and Other Options Available)

Interior Square Footage: 140 sq. ft.

Total SPACE Ground Footprint: 20 ft. x 8 ft.

Total SPACE Dimensions with Panels Open: 28 ft. in Length x 17 ft. and 9 in. in Width x 13 ft.

    and 8 in. in Height

Total SPACE Dimensions with Panels Folded: 28 ft. in Length x 8 ft. in Width x 11 ft. and 3 in. in

    Height

    Total SPACE Weight: 13,000 lbs.

    Operation and Maintenance Requirements:

PV System: Solar panels should be kept free from shade and face South for maximum power

production. Due to the fact that solar PV energy requires no moving parts, maintenance is

minimal. Panels should be folded prior to transportation and serious weather conditions forprotection against projectile debris.

Solar Rack: Because the solar rack is powder coated, no cosmetic maintenance is required.

When folding and unfolding the panels for transportation and/ or inclement weather, users

should follow deployment guidelines that will be provided by SPACE upon system installation. With two people, rack folding and deployment can be done under thirty minutes.

Battery System: Batteries should be checked for adequate power supply prior to deployment byusing the charge controller/ inverter interface. Instructions will be provided upon system

installation. Unlike traditional lead-acid batteries, sealed AGM batteries require no maintenance

and are not sensitive to shock or vibration.

Container/ End-cap: Due to the strenuous building specifications for shipping containerconstruction, no maintenance is required. SPACE containers are painted with anticorrosive,

industrial enamel that protects and enhances container performance (color to suit). Proper

equipment ventilation will be provided in the system end-cap.

Transportation: SPACE is capable of traveling by methods that are similar to moving traditional

shipping containers. Once the solar rack is folded and the container doors are closed, SPACE

can be four-point lifted by the container corner castings or moved with an industrial forklift

through slots in the bottom of the container. The solar rack design eliminates the need for a

spreader bar in the four-point lift and maintains an 8 ft. width with panels folded. SPACE unitscan travel on standard low-bed trailers that require no wide load or special transportation

    permits.

    Security Measures:

While traditional temporary offices and generators are designed to be highly mobile, they oftenlack security measures required for public applications. SPACE, while mobile, is secure due to

the steel container construction and engineered components that protect valuable equipmentfrom theft and operational damage.

Container/ End-cap: By closing the padlocked shipping container doors on SPACE, all interiorequipment and data are protected and secured. The battery end-cap protects solar batteries,

solar inverter, charge controller, back-up generator, and HVAC using similar security measures

while providing ventilation for equipment. Due to the container weight and system design,

SPACE is semi-permanent and near impervious to break in and theft. The systems strength

also protects against wind and weather damage in severe conditions. Unlike many traditional

job site offices and generators, SPACE can remain in the field during a storm and eliminate the

need for office/ generator transportation through obstructed roads and high water.

Solar Rack: While the proprietary solar rack maximizes solar surface area, it also secures and

protects panels from environmental and human related damage. Secured to the roof of the

SPACE container, the solar rack sits high off the ground and restricts pedestrian access to panelsand wiring. Security fasteners attach panels in sets of two to an aluminum frame that is fixed to

an integrally welded axle assembly. All wiring is sheathed and contained within the rack and no

electrical disassembly is required for deployment. For storm protection, the solar rack isengineered and wind rated to 110 MPH wind loads with panels folded.
