    Collecting Unit A Geosynchronous satellite containing photovoltaic arrays. PV arrays convert Solar Energy into Radio frequencies or D.C Electricity. PV arrays units align themselves facing the sun by Solar trackers. Mirrors are used to intensify the incident rays A typical ground unit can produce only 20% of that of space unit.

    An antenna comprising a mesh of dipoles and diodes for absorbing microwave energyfrom a transmitter and converting it into electric energy is called a Rectenna

    The distance between the antenna and rectenna will be roughly thedistance from Earth to geosynchronous orbit (22,300 miles)

    For best efficiency the satellite antenna must be circular between 1 and1.5 kilometers in diameter

    The ground rectenna would need to be elliptical and around 14kilometers by 10 kilometers

    Microwaves are received with about 85% efficiency , around 5km across

    (3.1 miles)95% of the beam will fall on the rectenna.
