Have you noticed the new art piece in The J’s main lobby, near the elevator? This lovely piece was designed to honor those in our community who have become a member of the Legacy Society at The J by designating a planned gift in their estate.
Legacy giving makes it simple for you to make a personal investment in the future of The J by making provisions through your estate and naming The J as a beneficiary of a deferred(or future) gift. Some of the instruments which can be applied towards a legacy lift include: wills and trusts, retirement accounts, life insurance policies, and/or stocks and appreciated securities.
Your planned legacy gift supports The J’s long-term commitment to enriching our diverse community by cultivating an inclusive environment built upon Jewish values, heritage andculture. A gift of any amount provides sustainability and ensures our organization is able to continue offering programs of excellence providing wellness, meaning and joy from generationto generation. Members of the Legacy Society at The J are also invited to several special events throughout the year.
Please contact Cindy Bodker, Director of Development, at [email protected] or (913) 981-8807 for more information.

When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the adjustment to his new high school. What he isn’t prepared for are the local laws – including a ban on dancing – which are the brainchild of a local preacher bent on exercising control over the town’s youths. When the Reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her heart on Ren, her boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation and many of the locals are eager to believe the worst about the new kid. Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to; young people, guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind. Before the 2:00pm show, enjoy lunch at Chez Ami Cafe. Preregister by June 21st with the Heritage Center (913) 327.8044.
