Dear Colleagues and friends,

On behalf of the Organising Committee, it gives me great pleasure to invite you to the Singapore Physiotherapy Association 8th National Congress 2012 (SPAC 2012) from the 8th - 9th September 2012 at the Conrad Centennial Hotel in Singapore.

The theme of the Congress is, “Promoting Health through Physiotherapy”.

We have developed a well-rounded scientific programme that will cover the whole spectrum of physiotherapy from the acute setting to community rehabilitation. The Congress will present a combination of plenary lectures, symposiums, research presentations, workshops, and even a public forum. In addition, we will also be commemorating World Physiotherapy Day at the Congress.

Our speakers will be presenting the latest evidence and innovative practices over a wide range of topics. Not only is this Congress going to provide state-of-the-art advances in clinical practice, our range and depth of speakers are bound to leave you wanting more!

Grab this opportunity to network with your fellow physiotherapists and our invited speakers who are leaders in their respective fields. Seize this chance to enrich your clinical knowledge and build up your network of contacts.

In short, this Congress is definitely not to be missed.

I look forward to welcoming you to SPAC 2012. See you there!

Yours sincerely,

Students Overseas Attachment

Singapore Physiotherapy Association helped sourced for funding from Lee Foundation for 2 NYP students to go on an overseas attachment. We sincerely thank Lee Foundation for their kind support in various events and activities through these years.

Paola Ng went to Hong Kong Polytechnic University and reported that the overseas attachments has enriched her student life and gained invaluable clinical and life experience. New friends are made, cross borders cultural nuances are appreciated and fresh perspectives are formed together with the fundamentals of clinical reasoning and evidence based practices. She is now more determined than ever to continue pursuing a holistic physiotherapy approach with the patient in mind.

Wong Jiayen was at Curtin University in Perth. She went through a well-prepared programme, managed by full-time clinical tutors, for the students on attachments involving daily tutorials, case presentations and weekly feedback. She was very pleased to sharpen her critical thinking, clinical reasoning and manual therapy skills. The experience has inspired her to be hungry for knowledge and skills and cemented her passion for musculoskeletal physiotherapy. Jiayen said, “I am also very grateful to have worked with extremely experienced and passionate clinical educators who continue to inspire me to be a better physiotherapist than I am. I believe that this experience will be a significant memory in my journey of becoming a physiotherapist.’

SPA hopes to help students enrich their formative years and serve their community and profession well in future. It is heartening to know that SPA has touched the lives of these 2 students; they will go on their wonderful career of changing the life of many more thousands.
