Sow what? What does art education sow into the future of an artist, whether she or he identifies with the one who is more firmly career-bound or the other who will seek the risk of re-defining the artist’s place in society?

Sow What? revisits the plate as the modality of study and inquiry into art problems instituted in the teaching of the BFA Program, and inevitably casts the interface between the exercise of solving visual problems with that of the processing of meaning. We review the caution of approach transposed into aggressions of posits and play. Note that we don’t always regard plates as artworks unto themselves, but in this exhibit, one may also observe how the student strives to break out of the plate’s confines, placing their ideas and their selves in its final negotiation. Pintabs is the academic society for studio arts in PWU, and exponent of studio practice as the integrated refinement of skill and sensibility. Founded in 2011, mainly under the guidance of Prof. Noel Soler Cuizon, Coordinator of SFAD’s Painting Program, the organization aims to move forward with critical forays into markets and art management now that most of its members are in senior year programs of research and interaction with communities. Sow what, indeed? In this review of attempts and emerging voices, we await the fruition of art struggling from the seams.
