A brief history…

SCHC opened in 1996 - the realization of a dream shared by six caring medical people early in their careers - actually three husband-wife teams: Julio Porro and Jennifer Hastings, Jeff Meckler and Maria Pacheco, Robert Azcarraga and Gina Ramirez-Azcarraga who saw the need for community-based medical center for people living in southwest Santa Rosa.

With the help of Sister Michaela Rock and Santa Rosa Memorial’s Community Benefit Program, they developed a vision of a medical facility that would meet the needs of uninsured, primarily Latino community living in southwest Santa Rosa.

Today the SCHC is an independent, federally qualified community health center with 5 locations.

We have become true community asset, the fulfillment of a dream shared by people who listened to their hearts and persisted in their dreams. And, we have much more work to do!
