• SANT’ERASMO TOUR

A bike tour through Sant’Erasmo Island, considered to be the green heart of Venice, and a visit to organic beehives, managed by a local family that is the only producer of barena honey (100% Bio) on the island. End the tour at Mara’s home (il Miele del Doge) for a tasting of local products.

• LIO PICCOLO

A bike tour exploring Lio Piccolo, a Venetian lagoon area constituted by a group of islets separated by tiny canals. Cycle along a narrow road touched by the barena on both sides. Guests will be able to visit the local villages of Saccagnana and Pra and meet some of the 30 inhabitants of Lio Piccolo. At the end of the day, an aperitivo will be set right on the water, just before the last ride into the sunset back to the hotel.

Embark onboard the historical boat Edipo Re, the boat that once belonged to Pier Paolo Pasolin, together with six Chefs among the most important of Venice.

APE TOUR IN TAORMINA

The tour starts from Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo and takes guests on board the famous Ape Calessino to discover Taormina and its surroundings in perfect Dolce Vita style. The Ape tour’s first stop is at Casa Cuseni, international artistic and cultural centre built in the early 1900s by the English painter Robert Kitson, continuing towards the bays of Taormina where to admire the Isola Bella natural reserve, to end on the peaks of Castelmola village from which to admire the sunset on the island.

ETNA DISCOVERY

Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo invites its guests to an immersion in the Sicilian nature with a tour on top of Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe known for its surreal lunar landscapes created by the dozens of extinct craters, the so-called “buttons”, surrounded by old black lava flows and overlooking a breathtaking view on Sicilian coast. Perhaps you wouldn’t automatically associate the vast, dark craters and lunar-like landscapes with fine cuisine, yet Mount Etna’s fertile soil nurtures some truly amazing produce. In this awesome setting a surprise is waiting: a sommelier poised to pour you a glass of Etna sparkling wine and serve it with tasty local delicacies such as strawberries, almonds and pistachios. Sicily enjoys one of the highest numbers of designated DOP and IGP certified products in Italy, including five from Etna—pistachios, cherries, olive oil, wine and figs. Many of the foods arrived courtesy of other cultures. We have the Arabs to thank for our juicy oranges, for example. Tasting such specialities on the mountain that produced them is a one-of-a-kind experience. PLEIN-AIR CLASSES ON THE“CAMINO DE LOS PINTORES”

Dig out your artistic side and indulge in some painting lessons outside the hotel with a young and enthusiastic artist who lives in the enchanting village of Deià. In a breathtakingly beautiful spot up on the cliffs of Cala Deià (the bay below the hotel) the artist will teach participants how to paint and be inspired by nature.

Go back in time to discover traditional winemaking in the heart of rural Mallorca, and embark on this exclusive visit to an off the beaten track organic winery steeped in history. Take a guided tour of Son Sureda Ric, by the oenologist and owner Javier Jara. End the tour with a red wine tasting in the stone-clad courtyard accompanied by home-made Mallorcan specialities. Javier and his lovely wife Carmè, the Marketing brain behind Son Sureda Ric, will treat you to an intimate Bossa Nova concert in the ancient chapel, where Javier will play the guitar and Carmè bewitches with her soothing voice.

This Belmond Reid’s Palace exclusive adventure sets off as soon as you arrive in breathtaking Caniçal at the southeastern end of Madeira island, to tread along the undulating trail of São Lourenço Peninsula, a rugged basalt landscape devoid of vegetation, a stark contrast to the island’s Laurisilva forest and lush levadas.

As you pass slivers of black-sand beaches and curious rock formations, discern other islands in the archipelago and note how huge waves batter the west flank of the peninsula while calmer waters lap the other side. By the path’s end, head down to the beach and take a dip in the clear sea.
