Arrive at MacArthur Museum – General Douglas MacArthur was born in Little Rock. Originally an arsenal building, the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History was created to interpret our state’s military heritage from its territorial period to the present. Arrive at Little Rock Zoo Arkansas’s largest and only accredited zoo. Leave Clinton Presidential Center Lunch in the River Market District (on your own) – Located in the heart of downtown Little Rock, the River Market offers an exciting mix of unique shopping, dining, galleries and night life, all on the southern bank of the Arkansas River. It is very pedestrian-friendly, and is served by an old-fashioned electric trolley. Arrive at Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site and Visitor Center. As the nation’s only operating high school within a National Park, it is recognized for the role it played in the 1957 desegregation crisis. The center features interactive exhibits and tells the story of the Little Rock Nine’s bravery. 2016 marks the National Park Service’s 100th anniversary, and Central High is part of a nationwide Centennial celebration.
