About the Authors: Totok Sarsito, PhD. is a Professor at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Solo, Indonesia. He holds two MAs in Political Sciences from Universitas Gadjah Mada and from Northern Illinois University, USA, and a PhD in International Studies from Universiti Utara Malaysia. He has contributed numerous articles on Indonesian politics, such as “Javanese culture as the source of legitimacy for Soeharto’s government” (Asia Europe Journal, Volume 4, Number 3, September 2006), “The Indonesian Constitution of 1945. Dr. Mohd Fo’ad Sakdan is an Associate Professor at Universiti Utara Malaysia. He is also the Dean of the Research and Innovation, 2007 till now, College of Law Government and International Studies, Universiti Utara Malaysia. He holds an MA in Political Sciences from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and a PhD in Conflict Management from University of Hull, UK. Dr. Ahmad Bashawir Abdul Ghani is currently a senior lecturer in international business management with the College of Law, Government and International Studies at University Utara Malaysia. He holds an MBA in Financial Management from The University of Hull, UK, and a PhD in Commerce from Murdoch University, Australia. His research and consultancy interests cover the theoretical and applied aspects of international business, business research, strategic alliances, strategic/policy modeling, and business economics. He has also published in a wide range of international, Australian and New Zealand journals. He is currently the Deputy Dean, Ghazali Shafie Graduate School of Government, College of Law, Government and International Studies at University Utara Malaysia. Email: [email protected]

Sudarmo, PhD. is a lecturer at the Department of Public Administration, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta, Indonesia. Before embarking on his Flinders PhD scholarship, he worked as a street trader on Saturdays in Solo, thereby learning of their difficulties first hand. He has advocates for the rights of informal traders and details the political context of their removal from the center of Solo to the outskirts. He has also conducted some research projects on street traders in seven regencies of Solo Raya, and published articles regarding networks and collaborations, and contributed his idea about the importance of social capital to resolve conflict. Mohammad Rokib is an M.A. student at the Center for Religious and Cross Cultural Studies (CRCS) Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta (2009). In July 2010, he graduated from Vienna International Christian-Islamic Summer University (VICISU) programe in Vienna, Austria. Lukman Hakim is a Ph.D. student at the College of Arts and Sciences, Universiti Utara Malaysia. His thesis “Assessing ASEAN 5 Economic Integration: Monetary Transmission Mechanism and Financial Market Performance Analysis” has been submitted for examination. He is a lecturer at the Faculty of Economy, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Solo,

Jauhari Dahalan, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor at the College of Arts and Sciences, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Kedah, Malaysia. His fields of specialization are Applied Econometrics, International Finance, Financial Economics, and Monetary Economics. He has published numerous articles, such as “Monetary Policy Transmission in a Least Developed South Pacific Island Country: A case Study of Samoa” (International Journal of Monetary Economics and Finance, Vol.1, No. 4, 2008), “How Does Monetary Policy Transmission Mechanism Work in Samoa” (School of Economics, University of the South Pacific Working Paper, WP2007/22, November 2007). Yulius Slamet, Ph.D. is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Sebelas Maret University, Solo, Indonesia. He has involved in many research activities since 1972. Dr. Ari Pradhanawati is a Senior Lecturers at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Diponegoro, Semarang, Indonesia.
