• Big issue recently with over-flight permit enforcement.

• During a six (6) week period at end of 2014, three (3) aircraft

intercepted.

• Permits were missing in each event.

• One aircraft barely entered the airspace, where they had operated

for years without a permit.

• Entire airspace now requires permission.

• US Flight Crews do NOT require Visas and may enter via

GENDEC with Passport (w/ 6 Mo validity), Crew ID and valid

Licenses (Pilot/A&D).

– Also applies to crews arriving via commercial carriers for “crew swap”

– US Passport holders can get visa on arrival valid for 30 days

• Landing Permit Required

– CAA Closed on weekends, no exceptions

– Local receiving party required for all landings except tech stop

• Arrival Handling – Local handler must submit formal request to

Indonesian Directorate General of Civil Aviation & Airport Authority.

• Indonesia is a Muslim country

– For travel in-country outside of Jakarta, women (including Non-Muslims)

are encouraged to bring a scarf or other means to cover the head.

• Indonesia is located in the “Ring of Fire”

– Frequent earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and tsunamis.

– Seasonal flooding from monsoons.

• UHC classifies Indonesia as a Level 4 (High) Security Risk.

• No Vaccination Requirements* – This does NOT mean health risks

aren’t present

– Tropical climate increases risk of mosquito borne, diarrheal illnesses

such as Dengue Fever and Malaria.

– Tuberculosis is an increasing concern

– *Passengers arriving from countries with Yellow Fever cases are required

to show documentation of YF vaccination

– Avian Flu more prevalent due to high pollution levels

• Allow minimum of 1 HR for drive around airport perimeter for

ramp access.

• CIQ requires 2 HR notice of departure.

– Pax/Crew list must match advance information provided by local

authorities.

• Local Agent to file ATC Flight Plan in ATS office with stamped

clearance documents.

– ATS does NOT accept electronic filing.

• Taxi times may be up to 30+ minutes.

• Singapore implemented ADS-B requirements in December 2013.

• According to the AIP (5 MAR 2015) the following airways require

ADS-B equipage at and above FL290:

Vietnam FIR

• Like Singapore, Vietnam implemented ADS-B requirements in

2013.

• L625, M771, N892, L642, M765, M768, N500, L628

• However, only L642 and M771 are strict requirements.

• Other six (6) airways, FL290 and above available for non-ADS-B

acft based on conditions and ATC considerations.

Hong Kong FIR

South East Asia

• Like Singapore and Vietnam, Hong Kong began to implement

ADS-B requirements in 2013.

• At that time, it was only in effect for two airways, L642 and M771.

• As of 11 DEC 2014, however, ALL of Hong Kong FIR requires

ADS-B at FL290 and above.

– Also requires RNP4 capabilities.

• Prior to mid 2012, significant and strict sanctions were in place

by the U.S. government (OFAC).

• Ops to this country were extremely limited.

• Sanctions were eased in mid 2012 due to reforms made by

Burmese government.

• While some sanctions remain in place, it is much easier to

operate to the country.

airspace requirement as of 31 DEC 2014 at FL290 and above.

– Leave Taiwan and over-fly or land in China directly.

• No difference between private and charter, except private has

more choices for destinations.

• Aircraft registered anywhere else cannot arrive/depart/over-fly

mainland China if departing/arriving Taiwan directly.

• VHHH-Taiwan and Taiwan-VHHH is permitted.

• Four years ago at this time, Japan was struggling to deal with the

effects of the 9.0 earthquake and subsequent tsunami on 11

MAR.

• Sendai was one of the hardest hit areas, in terms of aviation…
