10th Annual Friends of the Foundation Golden Celebration

The South St. Paul Educational Foundation held its Annual Friends of the Foundation celebration on

Wednesday, August 15th at Southview Country Club. The Friends of the Foundation is a celebration to

show support for the Educational Foundation and its efforts of enriching the lives of South St. Paul

students. Our honorees this year were Don and Jan Voight, Bruce Ruecker and Ken Nelson. 1998

scholarship recipient Miquel Silguero gave a moving testimonial to the impact that the Foundation has on

student’s lives. A new addition to this years gala was a raffle for a 2 year lease of a 2019 Jeep Cherokee

4 x 4 donated by Fury Motors. The lucky winner was LaVonne Francis. This year over $40,000 was raised

to help support programs and scholarships for students of South St. Paul public schools.

31st Annual Walkathon

The Foundation held its 31st annual Walkathon on September 19th. Even though we didn’t escape the

rain, we still had many enthusiastic walkers and runners. The walkathon is a wonderful way for the

community to join together for a great cause. Thank you to all of the donors, sponsors, participants and

volunteers. More than $30,000 was raised for special student projects and events. Fifty percent of the

money goes directly back to the classrooms. For more information on the Walkathon please contact the

Your generous donations have allowed us to fund initiatives that cultivate meaningful learning

experiences for our students. We ask that you continue to partner with us to promote excellence and

innovation in education for the students of South St. Paul. As we position ourselves to support South St.

Paul public schools for many years to come, we ask that you consider making a donation to foster new

On Wednesday, May 9th, 155 students

received scholarships totaling over

$444,600. We are very proud of the broad

range of scholarships that were awarded to

a true cross section of students. The

scholarships ranged from $500.00 to
