Assembly
There will be NO assembly
tomorrow due to the
swimming program. We will
have assembly as per usual
on Monday morning. All
‘Students of the Week’ will
be presented on Monday next week.
Naplan
The NAPLAN results arrived at the beginning of
term. We are very proud of all our students’
results, many of whom achieved well above
other students in their grade level across the
state. All students in Grade 3 and 5 who sat the
NAPLAN test will bring their results home next
week.
Swimming
This week, all students have participated in a
swimming program at the Mildura Wave Pool.
Each day the children have participated in a 45
minute lesson which has included water
familiarisation, stroke technique and water
safety. Tomorrow is FUN Friday, when the ‘waves’
will be turned on for the students to play in.
Prep Information
We will be holding an information evening for
parents of 2014 Preps on Thursday 24th October
from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the current Prep Room
(Room 1). This will be a great chance to ask
questions and meet other Prep parents.
Welcome
We welcome Declan Belsham and his family to
Irymple South PS. Declan has joined 1T with Miss
Thompson.
Uniform
Lowes at Centro are now the sellers of our
school uniform. From the start of this term they
will be supplying all uniform items. T-Shirts will not
be available for a few weeks as we are currently
redesigning them. We hope that you have
enough uniform to get you through! Hats will still
be sold from the Office.
Please ensure that your child wears correct
school uniform to school each day. Black shoes
are recommended and your child will be
informed which day they have PE so that they
can wear appropriate footwear on that day.
Remember that ALL students need to wear a
hat whenever they are outside.
AASC
This term we are conducting a CRICKET and
SWIMMING program on Wednesday night. The
Cricket program will run for 4 weeks and the
Swimming will run for 3 weeks at the Irymple
Pool. These activities will commence on
Wednesday 23rd October. If you wish your child
to participate please return the form at the end
of this week’s newsletter.
Catholic Religious Instruction Excursion
All students involved in the Catholic Religious
Instruction program will be visiting St Joseph’s
church in Red Cliffs on Monday 28th October. All
students will receive a permission note at their
next RI session on Monday. Parents and
guardians are also welcome to attend.
Communication
We believe that communication between
parents and the school has a positive impact on
the educational experience of all students. Due
to this we have been proactive with updating
how we communicate with you. We now have a
school Facebook page, school app, website
and of course our newsletter. All of these provide
you with up to the minute information about
what is happening at school. Please take the
time to like our Facebook page, install the app,

To all the Students, Parents and Teachers of the Irymple South Primary School Community, We, the School Captains, would like to make a change to our School Houses. We believe that it is necessary that the house names are changed from Red, Green, Yellow and Blue to something that is a bit more exciting and may connect to our history. Some of our ideas are Newton, Dewry and Belar but feel free to provide us with your suggestions and opinions. A box will be at the office where you can drop off your ideas. The last chance you have to drop off your suggestion is on Wednesday the 23rd October. From there the best suggestions will be chosen, along with its colour. Ms Brooks will finalise the changes and they will be announced at Graduation. Thankyou for your help Jake, Olivia, Phyllis and Vinnie

Exciting happenings at Irymple South P.S in Term 4!
We will be running the Active After-school Communities (AASC) program
again this term. The program will run on a Wednesday after school for 7
weeks from Wednesday 23rd October. This Australian Government program is run by the Australian
Sports Commission and provides opportunities for primary school children to participate in free sport
and other structured physical activity, after school. The students will be provided with a healthy
afternoon snack before each session.
During Term 4 the AASC has put together a Cricket and Swimming program for the students to
enjoy. The program will be run by a coach and supervised by Penni next term at school. The
activities focus on increasing physical activity and improving skills in a fun, safe and inclusive
environment.
To ensure children can take advantage of this excellent opportunity, we encourage parents to
allow them to participate for the full hour and to pick them up after the program concludes.
If you would like to enrol your child in the AASC program please fill in the expression of interest
below return to school as soon as possible. The numbers of participants is capped at 20 and places
will be filled on a ’first come, first served’ basis.

4 Irymple South Primary School Newsletter, Issue 31, Week 1, Term 4, 2013
On the last day of term all students dressed up in their favourite football team’s colours.
The school was a sea of colour on the day. Throughout the day the students participated
in a variety of activities.
The Grade 6 leaders organised a series of footy skills activities that all students
participated in.
In classes the students designed their own footy jumper and created a team name.
The Student versus Teacher football match was the highlight of the day. With the
students narrowly beating the teachers by less than a goal.
