South Hams Field Archery Club – 12th September 2010

We held our first shoot in September, An event we will truly remember.

Planning started eight weeks before, Targets, distances, safety and more!

Course layers plotted and delivered a plan, As over the ground sharp eyes did scan. Bridges were built and ropes were set –

So that visitor’s feet didn’t get wet – Crossing the stream that flows through the site,

Thus saving them from a watery plight! Crocodiles lurked on muddy banks,

While archers crossed on wooden planks – To shoot at beasts of all shapes and sizes,

To score some points and may win some prizes. Archers arrived and assembled their kit And went off to practice for a little bit – To test their bows and hone their skills

This hopefully would result in numerous kills? The admin and walkouts duly complete,

The start horn sounded – time to compete! Arrows selected, bows were aimed

At targets – Missed – course layers were blamed. Targets were hit, targets were killed,

Points were awarded and score-cards filled. Marshals were lurking, checking all’s well, Who were the winners? Time would tell.

Medals were presented by Lady P – To winners – all full of glee.

Archers departed; the work was all done, We and the archers all had some fun.

In fact – we all had a hoot – At South Hams Field Archers first shoot.
