“Serving as God directs and
empowers to reach our world
with the Good News of Jesus
Christ, making disciples in
helping others as Christ’s hand
extended.”
HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the
Almighty.” Psalm 91:1
What is the “secret place” of the Most High? It’s an intimate place of divine protection
that only comes through a relationship with God. The way we have that relationship is
resting in Jesus Christ as our Savior. What an awesome thought that the shadow of God
is a place of rest and refuge! I feel like that is where we are abiding at South Fork. God,
in His infinite wisdom has been pouring out His grace on us over the last couple
months. He knew we all needed it at this time in the life of our church. I have come to
believe that this is just the beginning of what He is getting ready to do. We have a very
important vote the first Sunday of this month. Please all of you be praying and asking
the Lord’s direction of what He wants. I want you to know that regardless of how the
vote goes, Sandy and I love you and will be here to continue to serve in whatever
capacity the Lord desires. We are overwhelmed with the love you guys have shown us.
Sometimes it is hard for us to believe that we have this awesome opportunity to serve
alongside the greatest group of people in the world. All I can say is thank you for all of
your love and care to us. I want to thank the Lord for His presence that has been real and
relevant every service. I want to challenge you to invite someone to church this month.
Look for people that God puts into your path and reach out though the love of Christ
and simply invite them to be a part of this great group of people known as South Fork
Baptist Church!

Mother's Prayer For You
~Anon
I said a Mother's Day prayer for you
to thank the Lord above for blessing me with a lifetime
of your tenderhearted love.
I thanked God for the caring you've shown me through the years,
for the closeness we've enjoyed
in time of laughter and of tears. And so, I thank you from the heart
for all you've done for me
and I bless the Lord for giving me
the best mother there could be!

What an awesome time we had at D-Now.
We all grew in the Lord and understanding
the treasures of our heart. Chris Woods did
a phenomenal job in expounding the Word
of God. The BCM (Baptist Campus Minis-
try) of App State were such a blessing. We
want to thank everyone that was involved
with making this weekend happen. We
already look forward to having our next

REMEMBERING THEIR ALL
Many have walked a path, a jagged road
Leading to tears of peace entwined with fears.
These times were not their chosen ways,
But soldiers took their stand.
The breezes of war, kiss their brow
Made the young old before their time
… and others ageless from the sound of reapers in the field.
They lived in a time of unfamiliar boundaries
Life made up of loyalty of our country and forced survival.
Preserving independence, rights and liberties
Freedom redeemed at countless costs
Common men and women performing uncommon acts of valor
Leaving behind all they have ever known
Family, friends, jobs and mother-land.
Masses went, to fight upon foreign soils
Their faces have been forgotten,
But the wounds, the pains and the cries remain.
Tired eyes mourning from within, looking out at
Blood covered promises and sorrow worn victories.
Searching for, yet not wanting to find.
...buddies that have fallen, the victims of war.
Pride in serving, the pain in remembering
Colors of the crimson soaked sod and blurred visions of the mind.
How thankful we should be, we should sing the tune of memories
Of forgotten heroes standing at past history’s door
They went and came home, many returned in part…
Let us remember those who returned in lifeless form
...and never stop looking for those labeled M.I.A. and P.O.W.
Memorial Day, a time to pay tribute for the ultimate sacrifice.
Celebrate with your picnics, beach outings and reunions,
But teach your children about the sacrifices made,
Pride in the United States and courage of the past.
Men and women, no matter how large or small the part,
Left their all behind, footprints of war imprinted in the annals of time.
Let us give them bitter-sweet honor of a hero-respect
...and a heartrending thanks.
We had a group go down to Crossings Church in Morganton April 6.
They were having a service of celebration for the official launch of the
church. It was a great testimony that South Fork is the sponsoring church
for this new plant. Pastor Homer Murdock gave the challenge and an-
nounced the Charter Members. After the challenge we had a wonderful
time of food and fellowship.
Easter Celebration Easter Egg Hunt:
We had a great turn out and a
great time at the Easter Egg
Hunt and Celebration. A big
Thank You to all of those that
worked to make it happen.
Easter Sunday Celebration:
What a wonderful day we had as we celebrated the resurrec-
tion of our Lord. For Sunrise Service Pastor David preached a
message titled He Is Risen: The first Easter morning from the
perspective of three women. We had a delicious breakfast.
And Brittany led the choir in a touching Easter Cantata. Thanks
to all those involved in making this such a special celebration.
