SOUTH FLORIDA REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY (SFRTA)

Vision Statement:

Providing greater mobility in South Florida, thereby improving the economic viability and the quality of the

community, region and state.

Mission Statement:

To coordinate, develop and implement, in cooperation with all appropriate levels of government, private enterprise and citizens at-large in the community, a viable regional transportation system in South Florida that endeavors to meet the desires and needs for the movement of people,

goods and services.

GOAL 1 – Promote a responsible transportation system supported by transit-oriented, pedestrian-friendly strategies; GOAL 2 – To coordinate, connect and implement our transportation system within South Florida; GOAL 3 – Ensure quality customer service and increased ridership by providing greater mobility choices, accessibility, safety and on-time performance; GOAL 4 – Pursue long-term capital and operating funding sources to leverage local resources, both public and private;

Objectives: Design and build transportation facilities that are safe, accessible,

inviting and comfortable; and Provide effective communication mechanisms that promote public transportation and are responsive to public feedback.

Objectives: Provide efficient and economical connections to all transportation

modes and corridors; and Identify regional transportation corridors for development of service expansion and improvement.

Objectives: Pursue new financial opportunities in conjunction with public, private and civic parties; Advocate and secure necessary and appropriate funding levels;

Objectives: Collaborate with government agencies to develop land-use policies consistent with an efficient regional transportation system; and Engage representatives of local and county governments in Authority activities through the SFRTA Board’s committee structure.
