LIVING IN THE WELLINGTON AREA BUT LOOKING FOR A CHANGE one couple set out to find a team to build their permanent residence and they weren’t going to settle for just anyone. Having a strong point of view, the family knew they wanted something calm and contemporary, yet understated. The homeowners commissioned interior designers Jason Lynn and Jack Lonetto and builder Chris Welling upon seeing their work on another

home in the Palm Beach Polo Golf & Country Club. The design team immediately brought on architect Jay Colestock, and thus began an unforgettable two-and-a-half year project. Located in the picturesque International Polo Club community in Wellington, Fla., lush greens provide a backdrop of constant serenity and privacy for this 7,000-square-foot home. Situated on a cul-de-sac corner lot, the setting would prove perfect for ample natural light

A rare Dale Chihuly glass sculpture is sure to inspire conversation in the living room, where chrome accents are sprinkled in with Thayer Coggin’s drum accent table set between a pair of sharp armchairs from Donghia.

and beautiful exposed views all around. With this home being the first contemporary residence in the area, Colestock’s main challenge was figuring out how to navigate the lot and utilize the views. Simple and timeless, the architectural scheme portrays a strong inside-outside movement that results in a congruent seamless flow. Large porcelain slabs lead the way past a fresh zing of white stone and dark bronze to a unique glass entryway. Step inside, where an open stairway highlights the entry with its dark metal railing and warm maple wood treads that climb the wall in contrast to the gallery like white backdrop. In the living room, a soft interior palette of charcoal grays and warm white tones allows the homeowners’ vast collection of art, especially sculpture, to shine. Above an artfully modern ribbon fireplace, a custom wall feature in Obeche wood echoes the sofa’s cool charcoal tones by Kravet. In a sea of geometric shapes, an oval table stands out in the dining room. Serving as both a daily eating space as well as a formal dining room, the oak butcher-block table easily seats a party of eight. A custom-designed glass cabinet houses a sparkling collection of stemware.

The luxe finishes of the main living areas flow through in bright white cabinetry topped in white quartz from Just Tile & Marble, stainless steel accents and HStudio’s leather-clad stools based in Lucite that pull up to an Obeche-stained island.

A graceful sweep of glass windows frame the dining room. Here, Avenue Lightings’s cluster of illuminated matte chrome rods suspends above sturdy B&B Italia chairs that circle a formidable oak dining table from Carriage House.

The designers spent a lot of time working with the architect to make sure everything in the kitchen lined up with the rest of the home, considering the window design and geometric lines. Clean and bright, the open culinary space is outfitted with white, flat-panel cabinetry, hidden hardware and a seamless design. A fun and sophisticated vibe can be found in the daughter’s bedroom, where soft gray tones reappear and stylish accessories fill the space. Texture play happens with the range of materials and the use of a shag area rug. Unique wire pendants continue the geometric spin. From the experienced insight of the builder and architect, to the talented skills of the creative design duo and the strong viewpoint of the owners, this home is teamwork at its finest. “It’s all about having the right team and giving the client what they want,” Lynn says. “With this project, it all came to fruition … everyone offered input and everyone had great ideas.”

With a fun and chic color palette of mostly white and silver, the homeowners’ artwork once again draws the eye across the space. Celestial “Etoile” light pendants from Terzani twinkle in all directions creating a gentle play of light and shadow.

“Between the wonderful views, the great art and architecture, there was so much at play,” designer Jack Lonetto says. “It was all about letting each of these factors have an individual voice.”
