OPPONENT: FLORIDA STATE (17-5)Florida State was given the one-seed for USF’s section of the bracket. The Seminoles carry a 17-5 record into the third round match.

Senior forward Deyna Castellanos has 33 points (11 goals, 11 assists) this season to lead FSU. Behind her, five players have also recorded double-digit point totals on the season. Altogether, the Seminoles have scored 47 goals and tallied 43 assists. Redshirt senior Caroline Jeffers has played 19 games in net for FSU this season, tallying a 1.12 goals-against average and a 0.681 save percentage.

Florida State is the reigning national champions.

POSTSEASON REVENGEUSF has been on a revenge tour so far this postseason. Both teams the Bulls defeated in the American Athletic Conference Championship were teams that USF lost to in the regular season. The Bulls lost to UCF, 1-0, on Oct. 31 before defeating the Knights, 2-1, in the conference tournament. In the AAC Finals, the Bulls took down No. 8 Memphis, 2-0, after a midseason loss to the Tigers.

The Bulls took it another step in the NCAA tournament, defeating the Florida Gators, 4-2, after a 2-0 loss in the season’s opening weekend.

DYNAMIC DUO2019 Preseason AAC Offensive Player of the Year Evelyne Viens and Andrea Hauksdottir were both named to the MAC Hermann Award Watch List and the American Preseason All-Conference team in August.

Viens returns to the Bulls for her senior season after becoming USF women’s soccer’s first-ever All-American when she was named to the third team by the United Soccer Coaches. She is also the program’s first back-to-back All-American, being named to the team in both 2017 and 2018. She also earned a spot on TopDrawerSoccer’s 2018 DI Best XI second team, TDS’ 2019 DI Best XI first team list and was named The American’s 2018 Offensive Player of the Year for her season where she led the NCAA in goals per game and points per game, while also breaking multiple program records.

Hauksdottir is back with the Bulls for her senior season after a dominant 2018 campaign. Leading the team with 1,632 minutes, Hauksdottir was named The American Midfielder of the Year while also earning American Athletic All-Conference first team honors for the second straight season. She was also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region first team. This preseason, she was named to TopDrawerSoccer’s Best XI third team.

REPEAT HONORSThree Bulls repeated in their placements in regular season conference awards. Viens was again named the American Offensive Player of the Year, this time sharing the title with Memphis’ Clarissa Larisey. Hauksdottir repeated as the AAC Midfielder of the Year, and both Hauksdottir and Viens were named to the American Athletic Conference First Team All-Conference. Sydny Nasello (Land O’ Lakes, Fla.) also repeated as a member of the AAC Second Team All-Conference.
