Since its inception in
1975, Pismo Coast Village
RV Resort has received
many awards and earned
recognition as one of the
best RV resorts in the
nation. Being acknowl-
edged in this way has
more than exceeded the
founding Board of Direc-
tors’ goals and expecta-
tions.
As a result of the in-
creasing popularity of the
resort, the Board of Direc-
tors, management, and
staff are dedicated to
keeping the resort in a
leadership position by
planning and implement-
ing improvements to the
property, its amenities,
and services. They greatly
appreciate the support and
loyalty of all their sharehold-
ers and public guests who
make Pismo Coast Village’s
success possible.
Pismo Coast Village is a
publicly held, for-profit corpo-
ration committed to provid-
ing a top-rated RV resort for
campers using recreational
vehicles. The resort is com-
mitted to providing quality
service for all its guests,
treating its employees fairly,
while adequately addressing
health, environment and
safety concerns, and being
an active member of the
local community.
Pismo Coast Village RV
Resort is an active commu-
nity leader, sponsoring
many local events and or-
ganizations, such as the
annual Clam Festi-
val, Special Children’s
Christmas Party, the Busi-

Park and continue to work with California State Parks OHV division and local and state decision makers on this important issue. We completed our first year of Leadership South County with 23 graduates prepared to lead and serve our community. Class two has been accepted and will begin in January. In addition to the Nipomo Steering Committee and Grover Beach Steering Com-mittee, we added two addi-tional committees: Arroyo Grande Village Steering Committee and the Arroyo Grande Steering Committee. Here are some other excit-ing updates to share: We have welcomed 186 new Chamber members. Construction on the Nipo-mo Cowork space is wrap-ping up and the doors will open later this month.
On behalf of the 2019 South County Chambers of Commerce Board of Direc-tors, volunteers, and staff, it has been a pleasure to serve the business commu-nity in 2019. What has been accom-plished on behalf of the business community? We advocated for the South County tourism econ-omy and the continued use of the Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Recreation Area at the Oceano Dunes State
The monthly membership coffee has been a big suc-cess and this year rotated locations. We are thankful to our hosts throughout the region. Thank you to The Agrarian Hotel in the Village of Arroyo Grande and the Avila Beach Community Cen-ter for hosting our meeting in recent months. We will host a breakfast workshop this month to help business owners and non-profits improve their website SEO. We plan to host more breakfast workshops in 2020 to help your business suc-ceed. We provided several op-portunities for supervisors to receive their harassment prevention training and also an online opportunity at a significant discount. We will be looking for more ways in 2020 to partner with you and help you achieve your goals.

Update from Supervisor Lynn Compton, District 4:
Oceano, Nipomo, and Arroyo Grande
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I
hope everyone had a relaxing Thanksgiving
and is getting ready for a great ending to
2019. November was a very busy month for
the County Board of Supervisors. Here is
some of what was approved at the two Board
meetings last month:
• Authorized the advertisement of construc-
tion bids for the construction of new basket-
ball & pickleball courts in Nipomo Community
Park. I am very excited that we are moving on
to the next step with this project!
• Approved renewal contracts with all the
incorporated cities to provide animal care
and control services.
• Approved a tract map for a proposed subdi-
vision resulting in 40 lots at 676 Grande Ave-
nue in the community of Nipomo.
• Submitted a resolution proclaiming Novem-
ber 2019 as "Thank a Veteran Month" in San
Luis Obispo County.
• Approved a budget adjustment of
$500,000 from General Fund contingencies
to fund emergency expenses related to prep-
aration for a Public Safety Power Shutoff
event to be used by the Chief Administrative
Officer.
• Approved a renewal agreement with the Cal
Poly Corporation to support the SLO Hot-
House - Center for Innovation and Entrepre-
neurship in the amount of $200,000 to en-
hance economic development.
• Reviewed the FY 2020-21 Budget Goals
and Policies, Budget Balancing Strategies
and Approaches, and Board Priorities.
• Considered a five-year financial planning
outlook for the County of San Luis Obispo.

Arroyo Grande News Thank You Renewing Members
At our November 19 Pismo Beach Council
meeting, we approved changes to our housing
element and zoning to allow development of a
low- to moderate-income housing project on
4th Street, south of Five Cities Drive. The City is
working with People’s Self Help Housing to
accommodate about 50 units.
We also adopted a personal services ordi-
nance to place some restrictions on businesses
such as smoke shops, pawn shops, resale

shops, and massage parlors. The purpose is to
avoid concentration of such businesses in any
part of the city.
The Pier Plaza project is well under way with
the old bathroom removed and the parking lot
undergoing major reconstruction. It should be
complete by May.
Ed Waage
Mayor, City of Pismo Beach
Tis the season! I write this a few days be-
fore Thanksgiving with my heart full of grati-
tude. I’m sure yours is as well. It’s a truly magi-
cal time of year with two annual special events
on deck: the Christmas Parade on Dec 1, and
Elegant Christmas on Dec 8.
This year’s Grand Marshall of the parade is
the “Queen of Arroyo Grande” Vivian Krug-
Cotton. She has given so much to Arroyo
Grande over the years: I can’t think of anyone
more deserving of the honor. Her list of volun-
teer efforts is staggering. Come downtown and
watch the best community parade in the coun-
ty, and give a special wave to Viv.
Perhaps the best gift you can give is to shop
local for the holidays. Elegant Christmas on
December 8th is the perfect time to get
gussied-up, stroll the Village and support our
local businesses as they hand out special
treats and beverages. Your purchases will be
wonderful and unique gifts for your loved ones,
and your dollars provide jobs and sales tax
which amplifies every penny you spend. It’s a
beautiful community-based event that makes
the season sparkle.
I sincerely wish you and yours a holiday sea-
son full of joy and love. Thank you for all you do
as Chamber members. Arroyo Grande is grate-
ful.
Best to you as always,
Caren Ray Russom

Grover Beach News
So, once again, Thanksgiving has come
around and many retail businesses are looking
forward to the busiest time of the year. There
are the holiday gatherings, the food, the
friends, the shopping, the shipping and hopeful-
ly the repeating of this process until exhausted!
The City of Grover Beach has a lot to be
thankful for this year. Optimism and communi-
ty engagement have been our approach this
year and we look forward to maintaining the
momentum into next year. But, before we ring
in the New Year, I hope that you will join us for
some upcoming celebrations.
With the City celebrating its 60th Anniversary,
come join us at the Annual South County Holi-
day Parade & Santa’s Workshop on Saturday,
December 7! The Parade starts at 10:00 am at
16th Street and travels down West Grand Ave-
nue and finishes at Ramona Garden Park
where Santa will be waiting to hear from all the
girls and boys. Also, waiting for you will be
vendors, hot chocolate and five tons of snow to
enjoy. Who wants to build a snowman!?!
We also invite you to join us in celebrating
the 60th Anniversary of the Grover Beach incor-
poration on Sunday, December 8, 2019 from
2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Community Center,
1230 Trouville Avenue. Some fun activities will
include a “re-enactment” of the first Grover City
Council Meeting, remembrances, games and of
course food…a big thank you shout-out to the 5
Cities Men’s Club for the barbecue and to Doc
Burnsteins for a 60” Ice Cream Sandwich!
Come join us as we celebrate the holidays!
I’m thankful for the opportunity to share with
you each month and am looking forward to all
the celebrations to come!
