Sources of Bees for New Beekeepers - 2014 Note and Caution! The following list of locally available queens and nucs is NOT the same as a list of locally produced queens and nucs. Some (local) sources on this list get their queens from other locations, particularly the South, where warmer climates permit earlier queens. These queens and nucs may or may not be what Virginia beekeepers want. Be sure you contact the supplier in advance of purchase and ask about the queen source location, traits/resistance, and so on, to be certain they have the product(s) you want. [ = known to use locally produced and/or resistant queens] BANV members will have spring nucs for sale to 2014 students. We strongly recommend local nucs as part of sustainable beekeeping. Note and Caution! The following list of locally available queens and nucs is NOT the same as a list of locally

produced queens and nucs. Some (local) sources on this list get their queens from other locations, particularly

the South, where warmer climates permit earlier queens. These queens and nucs may or may not be what

Virginia beekeepers want. Be sure you contact the supplier in advance of purchase and ask about the queen

source location, traits/resistance, and so on, to be certain they have the product(s) you want. [ = known to

use locally produced and/or resistant queens]

BANV members will have spring nucs for sale to 2014 students. We strongly recommend local nucs as part of

sustainable beekeeping. When active the program will be explained on our website: www.beekeepersnova.org.
