Well it is now late August 28, 2016 and the days are becom-ing shorter. You really get a sense of this on Thursday night racing, when we are all able to enjoy the sunsets on the way back to the harbor (except for the crew of Sniper who are in their slip enjoying a beverage while there is still plenty of daylight!) Sailing school has completed another successful season, capped off by the end of year barbeque on August 20. In addition to the meal there was a fabulous door prize table where you could place your raffle tickets on your prize of choice, and yours truly went home with a bottle of scotch! In the Olympic spirit, the competitive event of the evening was a 420 rigging competition. With 2 boats set up on the lawn, teams of 2 battled head to head to see who could get their boat ready to sail in the least amount of time. Most of the matchups were parents versus their children, and in our round Margo and I came in a distant second. We were spared further embarrassment when the rain came and ended the competition. As most of you know, the August Christmas dinner was cancelled and the celebrations were scaled back after our chief Saint Nick, Gary Gavin ended up in the hospital. 2 boats took the challenge and sailed the lake and channel with their Christmas lights. We all wish to see him back at SPSC after a speedy and full recovery. Maybe we will just have to move Christmas back to December ! Enjoy the next couple of months on the water; racing, cruising, and sailing for Hospice.
The next Executive Meeting is Tuesday, September 6 at 7:15 PM.
