NB! Admission takes place in alternating years. In 2012, admission will be to the Music Sound Engineering specialisation and in 2013 to Film Sound Engineering. The Master’s Programme in Sound Engineering Arts provides graduates with the theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and contact with internationally known music producers and sound engineers needed for a career in the field of sound engineering arts on an international level, as well as the knowledge needed to continue studies at the PhD level.

Who should apply?Applicants are expected to have prior skills and knowledge in film sound and/or sound engineering that allow them to focus on practical sound directing, recording and mixing under the supervision of internationally acknowledged professionals.

Depending on the choice of specialisation students will be based either in Viljandi (specialisation: Sound Engineering) or in Tallinn (specialisation: Film Sound Engineering).All students, regardless of specialization, will spend some time during the period of their studies at both partner universities.

Language of instruction: English

Programme duration: 2 years

General admission requirements:• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

• Portfolio and interview, which can be conducted via Internet

• Applicants for whom English is not a native language need to provide proof of English language proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS).

You will receive an automated confirmation of your online application submission with log-in information to track your application status.

2. Mail the required and properly prepared documents by the indicated deadline to:

International Student Service, University of Tartu, Ülikooli 18, Tartu 50090, Estonia.

Applicants will receive confirmation upon receipt of their application and its status. Only complete applications will be considered by the Admission Commission and students accepted into the programme will be notified of their admission soon after.

Documents to be submitted:1. Online application;

2. Curriculum Vitae, form available at www.ut.ee/sound;

3. Portfolio;

4. Official copy of the Bachelor’s diploma or its equivalent and Diploma Supplement (transcript/grade list) in the original language;

5. Official translation of the Bachelor’s diploma and Diploma Supplement into English, translation certified;

6. Proof of English language proficiency – detailed information on accepted tests and scores is available at www.ut.ee/requirements; and

7. A copy of the applicant’s valid identification document.

Application deadline: April 16

Applicants graduating with diplomas issued later than the set deadline (e.g., in July) must submit the application form and the most recent Transcript of Records by the required deadline.

Tuition fees and scholarships:The programme fee of €3000/year covers tuition, some study materials, supervision and advising of thesis preparation. A limited number of scholarships will also be granted to well-qualified applicants.
