Sound DesignHow I used sound

I didn’t use much sound for my opening sequence. My opening sequence contains no dialogue at all and I haven’t added any non –diegetic sounds to my video and have only used sounds from within the diegesis of the film. I did this as I felt that no sounds needed to be added in order to create more of an atmosphere. The only sound I added onto my opening sequence was Radioactive By Imagine Dragons. This was the track I got permission to use from the band’s record company.

What sounds connoted thriller

The kind of sounds which are typically found in thriller movies are suspense building music, footsteps and heavy breathing or panting. Often the suspense building music is created with the use of a violin, cello, keyboard effects, drums and a synthesizer.

The majority of sounds used in thrillers are used to generate suspense and build tension in the audience and make them feel scared and frightened. The most commonly used sounds in thrillers are dark, eerie sounds. The music usually starts off at a slow pace at first then gradually speeds up the pace helping to create the tension and build up to a climax.
