Sorrento Coast to Culture Break

No visit to the region would be complete without a guided tour ofPompeii and you have the option to choose whether to do thiswith Herculaneum or Mount Vesuvius. We have a good range ofoptional tours which you can include in your stay. These includevisiting Capri and The Blue Grotto, a scenic drive along the AmalfiCoast taking in some of the towns, or perhaps a very specialexploration of the region by yacht! Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1Fly to Naples and Private Transfer to your hotel

Fly to Naples and private transfer to 4 star Hotel Imperial Tramontano.

This hotel is perfect for a relaxing break away from the stresses of everyday life. With fantastic views overlooking Mount Vesuvius, a wellnesscentre and rooms encompassing great vistas, this is the place to be. It is also within walking distance of the Circumvesuviana train for easyaccess to both Pompeii and Herculaneum, and not far from the harbour for the boat to Capri.

In your included sea view balcony room, you have a view to distract you from your unpacking!

Day at leisure. You can go for a wander, enjoy relaxation time at the pool or alternatively add in one our Optional Extras.

You can choose from a trip to Capri and The Blue Grotto, a scenic drive along the Amalfi Coast, or perhaps take to the sea for a tour of theregion by yacht. See Optional Extras for more information.

Sorrento - Guided Capri, Ancapri and Blue Grotto Tour (Full day)

Another of the main experiences of the region is a visit to nearby Capri. With your guide and small group, take the ferry to the island. Onceyou arrive in Capri, the boat will be waiting to take you onto Grotta Azurra (Blue Grotto). This special place is only accessible by small boatand once inside the grotto, you will see the sunlight pass into the underwater cavity and shine through the seawater, to create a stunning bluereflection. This tour also includes some time at Anacapri, the highest part of the island which affords some fantastic views over The Bay ofNaples. Enjoy lunch and some free time to wander before transfering back to Sorrento.

Price Per Person: From £160 includes transfers, guide, lunch (beverage not included) and entrance tickets to the Blue Grotto(subject to weather conditions). Please note if the Blue Grotto is not accessible due to tidal conditions, this tour will be changed toa boat tour of the Faraglioni Rocks. Alternatively if sea conditions are too bad, you will be taken on a tour of the island instead byland.

Sorrento - Amalfi Coast Experience (Full day)

No drive is like the scenic Amalfi Coastal route and today you get to witness this transfering onto Positano. Have some free time to explorebefore continuing through nearby Praiano, Furore and Conca dei Marini, enroute to Amalfi. Enjoy several hours to wander and explore,before a final stop in Ravello. Ravello gives you the opportunity of purchasing the locally produced Limoncello and many of the local shopsprovide free tastings of the original Limoncello, Melon, Pistacchio and Hazlenut flavours. These make perfect souvenirs! Transfer back toSorrento after.

Sorrento - Sunset Experience by Boat (Half Day)

This is a very special experience for a small group with a maximum of 12 people. With friendly crew and breathe-taking scenery, this is theperfect optional extra for celebrating a special occasion and a once in a lifetime experience. Leave Sorrento and transfer to the Port of Pianodi Sorrento. Set sail for Regina Giovanna Bay where the Queen Giovanna used to swim with her lovers. Enjoy some time to swim at sunsetby the ruins of the ancient Villa Pollio and sip cocktails at sunset, before returning back to Sorrento.

Price Per Person: From £75. Includes transport, Skipper, swimming at sunset by the ruins of the ancient Villa Pollio, aperitif andsnorkelling equipment. Available on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Please note the schedule may get changeddue to weather conditions.

Sorrento - Discover Positano & Amalfi by Deluxe Boat (Full day)

You’ve heard the expression “Push the boat out” and this is what it refers too! Treat that special someone to a day on a private boat in asmall group of under 12 people. Transfer to the port where you will set sail for Amalfi, travelling along the Sorrento Peninsula and the AmalfiCoast. Stops can include Marciano, Mitigliano and Bagni della Regina Giovanna, the last of which provides free time for swimming andsnorkelling. Along the Amalfi Coastline you will visit the Island of Li Galli, Nerano, Praiano with further time to swim and snorkel. For a €5 perperson fee, you can enter the Grotta dello Smeraldo, before arriving in Positano. In Positano you have some free time before moving onto theancient Maritime Republic and possibly Fiordo di Furore. Depart from Amalfi and enjoy Happy Hour on board with a Limoncello tasting as youtravel back to Sorrento after a blissful day!

Day 3Choice of Pompeii Tours

Today you have the choice of two thrilling Pompeii tours:

Option 1 – Pompeii & Herculaneum

Join your guided small group for a tour through Pompeii. Discover the remains of this ill-fated city including the Baths, Forums and villa builtby the Romans in 80BC. Marvel at the remains of the frescos that adorn the walls and floors in some of the villas that remain. Then travelonto Herculaneum to see a better preserved city, where you can still walk the same streets as the residents did over 2,000 years ago, seethe timber features and household objects. Excavations of this fascinating region are still going on today.

Option 2 – Pompeii & Mount Vesuvius

If you want to explore Pompeii with your guided small group but then want sweeping views of the region, then continuing on after Pompeii toMount Vesuvius is the tour to pick. The bus brings you up to 1,000 metres and then you are free to walk the remaining 200 metres to thecrater. Please note if you are doing this tour you need warm, layered clothing. If you require walking aids, there is a local guide who hires outwalking sticks to help with your climb. This service is optional and requires a small fee payable locally, as does the option to walk up to the1,200 metres point.

DAY 4Private Transfer to the airport

At leisure until your private transfer to the airport.

Alternatively, if your flight is not until the afternoon/evening, why not add in our Optional Private Guided Catacombs tour. With your guide youwill get to discover the Catacombs of San Gennaro, before transfering onto the airport for your flight home after. See Optional Extra below formore information.

However, if you don’t want your Italian adventure to finish just yet, why not add on a few days in Rome. You can either opt for our main Rometours or if you are visiting during July and August and love opera and the ballet, then the Caracalla Summer Festival is taking place. Get toexperience either an opera or the ballet with the backdrop of the Caracalla ruins in truly mesmerising open-air surroundings!

Where You'll Stay

Hotel Imperial Tramontano - Sorrento (4 Star)It's location is hard to beat being only within 5 mins walking distance of Sorrento centre. It is also ideally placed for collecting theCircumvesuviana Train to both Herculaneum and Pompeii.

The hotel can boast many distinguished guests including Goethe, Byron, Scott, Shelley and Keats, along with many others. Thehotel terrace was also the inspiration of the world famous song "Torna a Surriento" composed by G B De Curtis.

 

Bellevue Syrene - Sorrento (5 Star)If this is not enough, Bellevue Syrene also has it's own private solarium and beach with a Roman pedestrian passageway carvedout of the rocks. From here you can swim, use the tanning beds or sunbath.

Guests have access to the wellness centre, along with the wine cellar, but also has a choice of three wonderful dining areas.

The hotel is situated within a 5 minutes walk of Sorrento centre and close access to the Circumvesuviana Train for trips to Pompeiiand Herculaneum.
