CODESYS RTE Runtime
Package
About this document
This document describes the steps of the CODESYS RTE runtime package for the
Advantech X86 series products. Please perform the following steps.
Step1: Check BIOS setting
Some CPU configurations at BIOS menu maybe affect the real-time system efficacy.
Please check the following settings have being enable/disabled.
For APAX-5580:
1. Select “Save & Exit” tab, enable “CoDeSys Support”
2. Exit with saving
For Advantech TPC series:
Please check the following settings at BIOS configuration. (Setting names may be
different, please look for similar names.)
BIOS Setup MenuAdvancedCPU Configuration
Hyper-threading Disabled
EIST Disabled
Turbo Mode Disabled
CPU C states Disabled
Step2: Check operating system
Currently the CODESYS RTE runtime only support Windows 7 with 32-bit operation
system. Please check the following items.
1. Check operation system is 32-bit Windows Embedded Standard
2. If the operation system is not 32-bit Windows Embedded Standard (maybe win7
pro. version), please install Advantech EC driver, network driver …etc.
Step3: Install CODESYS key
1. Install “Advantech_CodesysKeyGen_Win32_V1_00_02.msi”
2. Check if there are 3 files at “C:\Program Files\3S CODESYS\CODESYS Control
RTE3\lic”
Note: Please stick the license label.
Step4: Install APAX-5580 Win32
I/O Driver (Option)
If APAX-5580 plug the APAX-5402 series interface (2 expansion slots with APAX Bus),
please install the following driver package.
1. Install “APAX5580_IODRV_WIN32_V2_01.msi”
2. Select “Install this driver software anyway”
Step5: Install Advantech CODESYS
RTE Runtime
1. Install “Setup_CODESYSControlRTEV3.5SP6Patch2.exe “
2. The CODESYS runtime package will install specific CODESYS LAN driver, please
select “Install this driver software anyway”.
3. The CODESYS runtime package will install idoor CAN open driver, please select
“Install this driver software anyway”.
4. The system will shut down after install the RTE runtime package. Please restart
system.
Step6: Verify that the system
correctly
1. Verify the CODESYS RTE runtime package version is correct.
Go to the “Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features” and check the
version info.
2. Check the PLC status is running and licensed.
You can check the status from this icon.

3. If PLC status is “Stopped”, please confirm the following steps.
3.1. Right click “Computer” at start menu and select “Manage” item.
3.2. Select “Services and Applications” “Services”
3.3. Check the following services have been installed. Otherwise, please
uninstall and install the Advantech CODESYS RTE Runtime package.
4. Confirm LAN driver has been replaced successfully (For INTEL Ethernet
Connection I210 Family)
4.1. Right click “Computer” at start menu and select “Manage” item.
4.2. Select “Device Manager”. Find out “Network adapters” and check the
driver name has change to “CoDeSys EtherExpress GBit PCI Ethernet
Adapter”.
4.3. Otherwise, please install LAN driver manually. (See Appendix A)
Appendix
A. Install LAN driver manually.
1. Uninstall the previous LAN driver. Right click the LAN driver name and select
“Uninstall”.
2. Enable “Delete the driver software for this device” and click “OK” button.
3. Refresh device manager, find out “Other devices””Ethernet Controller”.
Right click “Ethernet Controller” and select “Update Driver Software…”
4. Choose the “Browse my computer for driver software”.
5. Choose “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer”.
6. Click “Next” button.
7. Click “Have Disk” button.
8. Click “Browse…” button
9. Goto “C:\Program Files\3S CODESYS\CODESYS Control RTE3\CmpEt1000MPD”
Select the “nex541ex.inf”.
10. Select “CoDeSys EtherExpress GBit PCI Ethernet Adapter” and click “Next”
botton.
11. Choose “Install this driver software anyway”
12. Install successfully, please shut down and reboot the system.
