Go to the Prevent Hurtle window on the touch screen; touch the Prevent Hurtle Open button. This will turn to Prevent Hurtle Closed and the BCS is OFF. 1. The mechanic and motorman grease all the raising sheaves. They grease and turn all the sheaves that can be turned. They make sure each grease nipple is taking grease or they change it. 2. Remove the catwalk used for holding the blocks. 3. Install the front spreader to the sub. 4. Stand and pin the front raising frames of the substructure. The “Prevent Hurtle” must be CLOSED (Off) to raise the derrick.

3. Install the front spreader to the sub.4. Stand and pin the front raising frames of the substructure. Use one crane and

sling to the pick up lugs or around the sheave. Pick up on the frame and it will drag along the sub into place. Make sure the forklift is standing by to assist with the pinning. The forklift can push the legs in. Pin both sides.

5. Remove the sling with a man in the snorkelift.6. Raise and pin the other side. 7. The mechanic changes the hydraulic lines over to the cylinders for the sub. The

cylinders are extended prior to raising the floor to help let the floor come into the pinning position softly. Again, the mechanic runs the hydraulics and the STP will signal both the driller and the mechanic

8. Set the raising sheaves on the floor at hole center. Remove the keeper bolts (rods). (The plates are only for holding the sheaves in the transport skid, so leave them off until removing the sheaves once the floor is pinned to the sub.)

9. Bring the blocks down and pin the raising sheaves to the blocks.10. String the floor raising bridle lines through the raising sheaves and pin them. Use

the air hoist and a sheave to pull the line over the sheaves and pin them to the opposite side.

11. Put the keeper bolts back in over the sheaves.12. Remove the air hoist and pin it to the transport skid. It needs to come off to put in

the floor plates after raising and pinning.13. Pick up on the blocks to take the slack out of the lines.14. The TP and driller checks that all is well.

15. Make sure there is nothing to interfere with the back dog house stairs. When the floor goes up, the stairs go up and roll in at the bottom. If this is not checked, you will have to stop the rig to clear the way, or you may do some damage.

16. Hold a safety meeting . Have some one make sure the sheaves are turning for the bridle line. Go over the driller’s duties and how to hit the emergency brakes if there is a draworks failure. The mechanic runs the hydraulics for the cylinders. The derrickman and one floorman put on safety harnesses to be ready to pin the floor to the raising legs. Keep all unnecessary men off the floor.

17. Knock the 4 pins out at the back of the sub.18. The driller follows the normal procedure to raise the blocks. The driller watches

the drill line and keeps it at a constant speed, not too fast. The men below stand back as far as possible and watch for problems. The STP stays on the floor to make sure all is well. He signals the driller to slow down as they reach the pinning point and has the mechanic start to let the cylinders in.

19. Pull the floor up to the pinning point.20. The men climb over the side and stay secured. They will need double lanyards.

They work in the platform and pound in the pins. The TP signals the driller to come in and the mechanic to let in or the opposite to line up the holes for pinning.

21. Lower the blocks and set the raising sheaves into the carrier. Remove the two keeper bolts.

22. Install the front floor pieces and the back one. Put in all handrails.23. Install the air hoists.24. Unpin the bridle lines and use the two cranes to lower them into the sub and pin

them by the derrick stools. Put in the floor plates to cover the hole next to the stools.
