1APPLICATION PRIORITY DATES -UNDERGRADUATE
All applicants are encouraged to apply earlyfor priority consideration. There are twooptions when applying for admission, EarlyBird option and Regular option. Lateapplications are only considered if there isspace in the programme.
The Early Bird option is recommendedprimarily for highly qualified applicants,summer applicants and internationalapplicants who would like an early decisionon their application. Any applicant mayapply during this period. Applicationssubmitted during this period will beconsidered for admission and given an earlydecision. An early bird applicant is one whohas submitted an application along withsupporting documentation by the stipulateddeadline.
The Regular option is the standardapplication option. Applicants should applyby the following deadlines:
December 1, 2011 Early Bird
January 31, 2012 Regular
SUBMISSION OF ON-LINEAPPLICATIONS
All applicants are encouraged to apply on-line. The on-line process is designed tomake the submission of your application aseasy and accurate as possible and shouldlast approximately 20 minutes.
SUBMISSION OF PAPER APPLICATIONFORMS
Applicants who are unable to apply on-linemust either print an application form fromthe Universitys website or obtain one fromthe Admissions Office. A non-refundableapplication fee of JA$1,000.00 for Jamaicanresidents and US$40.00 for Non-Jamaicansmust be paid at the Accounts Departmentbefore the collection of application forms orupon submission of application formsdownloaded from the website. Alldownloaded application forms and proof ofqualifications must be submitted to anAdmissions Representative along with thereceipt of payment.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING AN APPLICATION ON-LINE
1. Read the Summary of Programmes to identify your 1st and 2nd choice of programme.
2. Make a note of the programme codes for the programmes that you intend to apply
3. Ensure that you have a personal e-mail address as you will be required to include itin your application.
4. Log on to the University of Technology, Jamaica website at www.utechjamaica.edu.jm
5. Click on Prospective Students.
6. Click on Admissions.
7. Click on the Apply on-line button.
8. Create a User Name and Password. These should be recorded as they will allow
you to resume the process if your session is
interrupted.
9. Complete and submit your application on-line. You will receive an electronic response.
10. Submit certified documentary evidence (see other admissions information) of your qualifications to the Admissions Officewithin ten working days of completion of the application on-line but no later than January 31 whichever is earlier; no laterthan December 1 for priority applications.

An applicant will be considered for a courseof study if s/he meets the normalmatriculation requirements and is at least 17years of age by December of the year ofadmission.
Programme of 2nd ChoiceEach applicant may submit one applicationform to the Institution. An applicant will onlybe considered for a course of study ofsecond choice if space is available.
Submitting certified documentaryevidence *Copies of academic, birth and marriagecertificates must be submitted along with thecompleted application form. Passport &Drivers Licence may be submitted also.These copies must be certified and stampedonly by a Minister of Religion, Justice of thePeace, Attorney-at-Law or MedicalPractioner. ORIGINAL DOCUMENTSSHOULD ONLY BE SUBMITTED UPONREQUEST BY THE UNIVERSITY.Documents that have been tampered withwill not be accepted and the applicant willforfeit chances of admissions to theUniversity. Applications and supportingdocuments must be returned to theAdmissions & Enrolment Office by 4:00 pmon January 31, 2012 at 237 Old HopeRoad, Kingston 6, Jamaica. Transcriptsfrom other tertiary institutions must also besubmitted by the closing date for receipt ofapplications. It is not necessary to obtain atranscript from a secondary school. Formsnot properly completed, without proof ofprocessing fee (for applications submitted
manually), or without supportingdocumentation will not be processed.
MATURE ENTRY REqUIREMENTS
Persons who are 25 years of age and above,who are not eligible for admission under thenormal entry requirements, may apply formature entry. The applicants mustdemonstrate their potential forundergraduate university studies by virtue ofattainments, prior learning and/or relevantwork experience, all of which must berelevant to the proposed course of study. Inaddition, the application must be supportedin writing by individuals having first-handknowledge of the applicant's potential.Applicants' knowledge, skills andcompetencies will be evaluated under theUniversity's Prior Learning AssessmentPolicy, in order to determine theirequivalencies to the University's entryrequirements. They may be required toattend interviews as well as sucessfullycomplete a refresher Mathematics and/orEnglish course. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Once you have completed and submittedyour application form along with supportingdocuments, the Admissions Office will sendyou an acknowledgement letter advising youthat we have received your application and itis being processed. Depending on thecourse of study, you may be invited to attendan interview or sit an aptitude test.
This will vary depending on the course ofstudy. If you are currently takingexaminations, you may receive an offerconditional upon obtaining specific results.
Late Submission of Applications
Late applications will be considered if thereis space in the course of study and theapplicant is qualified. Applicants submittinglate applications should follow the normalprocedure for submission of applications.
Under-Subscribed Programmes
The delivery of any programme is dependenton a specific number of students registeringat the commencement of the academic year.The University reserves the right to decidewhich programmes are offered. For thosethat have to be cancelled, fees will berefunded in full.

FEES
All fees are calculated on a per credit basis. Please bear in mindthat the University, however reserves the right to change fees andcredits at any time and any quote given in the brochure is based onexisting conditions, which may change and affect the cost of aprogramme. Prospective students should therefore clarify the feesbefore making any final financial arrangement.
The cost per credit quoted in this brochure are the existing fees forthe Academic Year 2011/2012 (September 2011 July 2012).
Fees for the Academic year 2012/2013 will not be available until April2012; however in the interim the existing cost per credit quoted inbooklet can form the basis for calculating the upcoming fees byadding an additional 10-15% increase on the existing rates.

ACCEPTANCE
Early Bird applicants will be given a decision no later than
January 31, 2012
Regular applicants will be given a decision no later than
May 31, 2012.
Applicants to summer programmes will be advised of their
status by March 31, 2012.
Each applicant who is offered a place at the University will be soadvised by a letter from the Admissions Office. These applicants arerequired to pay a non-refundable enrolment commitment fee. Thisfee will be applied to the University fees upon enrolment. Anapplicants acceptance can only be confirmed if the EnrolmentCommitment fee has been paid.
ACCOMMODATION
The University currently provides 395 residential facilities for full-
time students. There are six halls of residence, namely;
Farquharson Hall and Hall F, which are male halls, and Garvey Hall,
Hall A, B, and E are female halls. Double occupancy are offered only
on Halls A, B, E and F. There is no single occupancy.
The fee is paid per semester; however, full payment can be made.If you are interested in living on hall, you may apply betweenOctober 3 and January 31, by accessing our website atwww.utechjamaica.edu.jm, click on prospective students, then on-line services.
