Sony video security cameras are equipped with powerful built-in
image analysis and detection capabilities. Used to dynamically
alert security personnel about suspicious activity, this can
also help reduce network bandwidth requirements and video
storage requirements. A wide range of compatible third party
video management systems and analytics software solutions
are available from market leading vendors. These can provide
additional intelligence for automated detection of anomalous
situations and investigation of incidents. They can also offer
valuable insights to assist civic authorities and town planners with
analysis of pedestrian movements and traffic flows.

Every individual counts: city streets, plazas and malls
Video surveillance cameras play a critical role in helping maintain the safety and security of individuals in public spaces. Sony’s SNC-VM772R is a 4K outdoor IR ruggedized camera with a large-sized CMOS sensor that delivers the image quality needed to perform effective surveillance in these environments.
SNC-VM772R captures detail-packed 4K/30 fps video footage with a minimum illumination of 0.06 lx - even in near darkness. Key features and benefits include:
• Multiple objects in field of view can be tracked, providing a cost-effective alternative to using multiple PTZ cameras
• 4K resolution delivers excellent image quality, allowing faster, more accurate identification of individuals and objects.
• On-board Optical Image Stabilizer keeps video images steady and blur-free, even if the camera’s subjected to buffeting from wind or traffic vibration on a pole, fence or road bridge.
• Internal or external sources can trigger high-quality 20 megapixel still images from camera
• Wide Dynamic Range captures extended range of light levels in the same scene, allowing observation in strong backlighting or other difficult lighting conditions.
• Built-in IR (infrared) illuminators give a clear view in complete darkness (0 lx) of objects at a distance of up to 50m from the camera.

Away from the crowd: parks and recreational spaces
Sony video security cameras help authorities reduce the risk of assaults and theft on visitors of parks and gardens, especially out of hours and in less frequented areas. Sony’s SNC-WR632C is a high-performance rapid dome network camera ideally suited for surveillance in such challenging environments.
SNC-WR632C delivers superb image quality, advanced analytics, industry-leading pan speed all packaged in a weather and vandal resistant housing. Key features and benefits include:
• Low-light performance and exceptional 130 dB wide dynamic range capture crucial image detail, even in poor lighting or at night.
• PTZ (Pan/Tilt/Zoom) functionality can survey large areas, providing a wider field of view than a single fixed camera.
• Very high pan speed of 700 degrees per second for quick response to incidents.
• Powerful 30x optical zoom offers wide area coverage, plus the ability to grab detailed close-ups without losing clarity.
• True D/N (Day/Night) function automatically switches the camera to Day or Night mode, depending on ambient light levels.

Higher performance, lower lifetime costs
Protecting people everywhere, all the time
Sony video security solutions for safer, smarter cities 03
Sony’s 4K cameras allow you to see everything and miss nothing. Quite simply, 4K means image resolution that
is four times higher than full HD. That means much greater detail and better clarity than what you can see on
current HDTVs. Because of the exceptional detail provided by 4K technology, security professionals can increase
wide area surveillance, yet still capture, magnify, and examine the smallest parts of a scene. This makes 4K
cameras ideal for critical security applications like city surveillance, transportation, parking lots, and campuses.
As a leader in sensor technology and image processing, Sony has developed several unique technologies to
address existing high megapixel imaging challenges, even enhance operation flow and efficiencies. One of the
important capabilities required for outdoor installations is sensitivity. Sony offers two 4K network cameras, SNC-
VM772R and SNC-VB770, that address sensitivity, storage and bandwidth challenges and concerns.
DEPA is Sony’s enhanced event processing technology. Cameras incorporating DEPA perform object analysis
creating object metadata on camera. This metadata can be streamed to a VMS or other video analytics engine,
for recording or support of a VCA system.
In Sony’s 4K cameras this is also used for Intelligent Tracking to automatically track up to four objects, providing a
virtual PTZ with 4 independent streams and an overview stream.
DEPA Advanced (available on current models, except SNC-HM662) allows this on-board DEPA technology to be
easily integrated with any VMS or alarm system. Event filters in the camera generate alarm output events such as
intrusion detection, virtual borderline, loitering, left & removed object detection, and face detection which then
can trigger alarms or events in a VMS (via ONVIF or CGI) or on camera (e.g. ‘voice alert’, edge recording, control of
relay).
By only sending event data DEPA Advanced can help reduce load on the recording solution and save valuable
network bandwidth and server-side processing performance.
View-DR is Sony’s innovative technology to produce images with an extremely wide dynamic range. View-DR
is a combination of Sony’s full-capture Wide-D technology, the high-speed Exmor® CMOS sensor, and Visibility
Enhancer (VE) technology. With View-DR technology, the monitored image become very visible – sometimes it is
even more visible than when viewed with the naked eye.
Sony Exmor-R CMOS technology delivers greater sensitivity and reduced noise. In a conventional ‘front
illuminated’ sensor, the photo diode is beneath a layer of wiring. By inverting the sensor design (R=reverse),
up to 3 x more light can reach each photodiode giving much better performance in low light situations.
