Sonore String Quartet

Sunyoung LEE, First Violin

Sunyoung Lee began her violin at seven and continued her studies at Ye-Won School and Seoul Arts High School.She came to the states and attended Manhattan School of Music completing Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in 5 years as a scholarship student. She has given solo recitals and chamber music concerts in the Tri-State area, Europe and Asia including Carnegie Hall, Seiji Ozawa Hall, Howland Cultural Center, Lillan Fuch's Memorial Chamber Music Concert and Korean Cultural Center Chamber Music Concert. She has appeared as a soloist for Rutgers University Youth Orchestra, NJ, Woodstock Chamber Orchestra in N.Y and Eroica Ensemble in Memphis, TN playing Saint-Saens No.3 violin concerto and Vivaldi's b minor concerto for Four violins with Paul Roby, associate principal in second violin of Philadelphia Orchestra. Recently, she played Mendelssohn violin concerto with the Greater Newburgh Symphony and the review says "violinist Sunyoung Lee, who played Mendelssohn's Concerto for Violin with intensity and grace, a virtuosic highlight of the musical season in Newburgh.-Times Herald-Record “ She has participated in various master classes by Pamela Frank, Arnold Steinhardt, Sheryl Staples, Hiroko Yajima, and Sadao Harada. She played at Tanglewood Music Festival in 2004 where she

served as a concertmaster under maestro Kurt Mazur. She also participated in the Music Masters Course in Kazusa, Japan and Aspen Music Festival. Her principal teachers are Yoko Takebe, Michael Gilbert and Lisa Kim of the New York Philharmonic. She was a member of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra in Connecticut and a member of Asian Artists & Concerts, Inc. (AAC). Hanna SHIN, Second Violin

Born in South Korea, Hanna Shin is an active soloist and a chamber musician. She is currently teaching the Fundamentals of Musicianship at the Rutgers University. She graduated Deok Won Art High School and Sookmyung Women’s University in Korea. Since coming to the United States in 2002, she received her Master’s degree and professional Studies diploma from Mannes College of Music under the guidance of Dr. Chin Kim. Currently she is pursuing Doctor of Musical Art at Rutgers University under the guidance of Arnorld Steinhardt and Shmuel Ashkenasi. In addition, she studied chamber music with Hyroko Yajima, Harris Goldsmith, Daniel Epstein and Min Kwon at Mannes and Rutgers University. As a soloist, Hanna Shin has performed with the Seoul Symphony Orchestra at Seoul Art Center in South Korea and made her New York debut at Carnegie Hall as a special presentation winner of 2007. As a chamber musician, she participated in Korean chamber Music Festival, and as a specially selected young musician, was invited to perform with the Seoul Chamber Ensemble. Also her trio group is a winner of 2009 Concert One at Trinity Church. While in her native country, in addition to performing in solo recitals, and chamber concerts, as well as a soloist with orchestra, Ms. Shin has also given concerts throughout the United States, China and Italy. Ki Kyeong LEE, Viola

Ki Kyeong LEE, Violist, received her Bachelor of Art Degree in Music from Kyung-Hee University. After her graduate, she had become a member of Dae-Jeon Symphony Orchestra in South Korea, and she also played as a concerto soloist with Transylvania State Orchestra of Romania. She continued her master degree and PSD at Mannes College of Music in NY under Eugene Becker and Hsin-Yun Huang. She has been awarded Kyung-Hee University scholarship as a distinguished violist, Mannes school of music Scholarship and International Scholarship award. She was active as a member with many Chamber groups including Sonata Da Chiesa and The Bridge Music Prayers. Recently she has her own Chamber group which is the Sonore Chamber ensemble had in New Jersey and New York area. And also she is director of Closter Hyun School of Music in NJ. Seojin YANG, Cello

A native of Seoul, Korea, Seojin Yang received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Cello Performance from Yonsei University, Seoul and her Master of Music Degree from the Mannes College of Music as a student of Marcy Rosen in New York city. Seojin Yang is currently a full scholarship student in Doctoral Music program at Rutgers University mentored by principal cellist of New Jersey Symphony, Jonathan Spitz.

While in her native country, Miss Yang served as principal cellist of the Yonsei University Orchestra the Asian Youth Orchestra and later of the Rutgers University orchestra. Miss Yang is a laureate in the SeGye international competition, Seoul and won the Artist International competition, New York. Seojin Yang has participated in prestigious international music festival such as The Vienna chamber music festival, the Weiner Meister Kurt, Vienna and the Encore School for strings in Ohio. She has also received master class from YoYo Ma, David Soyer, and Alto Noras. Her solo career has awarded her the opportunities to perform with the Seoul, Poland and Yonsei and Havana Symphony Orchestras among others. In 2004 she had her Carnegie hall debut recital at the Weill Recital hall and recently performed chamber music with Arnold Steinhardt, first violinist of the Guarneri quartet, Ilmar Gavilan and Adonis Gonzales. Seojin Yang is currently a member of the Philadelphia Virtuossi chamber orchestra and cellist of Sonore string quartet.

Se Hwan PARK, Piano

Se Hwan Park is a native of Seoul, Korea. He earned his bachelor's and Master's degrees at Chung Nam National University. While in there, he won the Chosun Daily News "Young artist Concert" award and performed with Cadenza Chamber Orchestra, the Chung Nam National University Orchestra, and the Astrakahn(Russia) Conservatory Orchestra. He then received a Master's degree in Vocal Accompanying at the Mannes College of Music and he became a staff pianist at the Westchester Conservatory and as an opera pianist has played at Symphony space and CUNY College, Carnegie Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Stern Auditorium, Goethe Institute, and regularly for the Mannes Opera. He is currently Music Director at the United Korean Church of New York and a pianist for New York Soloist Ensemble, New York Chamber Choir, OSH-Opera Company and the Harmonia Opera Inc. and a guest pianist at the New York Lyric Opera Theatre.

Junghee LEE (B-Soul), Soprano

Junghee Lee has earned a Master's of Music Theatre in Vocal Performance at New York University and prior to the Master's degree, she received a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Piano at Chungnam National University in Korea. Throughout her music career, she has earned much recognition as a pianist, singer, conductor and director. While in Korea, Junghee Lee has been invited numerous times to perform as an accompanist for various choirs and musical

companies. She also won several awards in Gospel Competitions and served as a Performance Managing Assistant at Sung-Gok Opera Company in Korea. She even featured in radio programs and commercials as an announcer/narrator and a voice-over talent (FEBC 1998~2001). In spite of her successful career in Korea, in 2002 she moved to New York to pursue further study in Music Theatre with her goal to produce and direct original musicals concentrating in Christian themes. Junghee Lee has directed various musicals such as ‘Father’(1997~2000, musical company ‘With Him’, in Korea), ‘Esther’ (2002, KPCB in New York), ‘Joseph’ (2006, KPCB), and ‘Ruth’ (2008, KPCB). In addition, she has produced Music Concerts for her students since 1997. Currently in New York, she continues to work as a conductor (KPCB2002~2008), a singer and a voice-over talent for commercials at Korean Christian Broadcast Network (KCBN2002~2005) and Korean Radio Station (KRB2009~present). Additionally, she is currently working on her solo album and performing as a founding member of B-soul.

Ou Hyuk IM, Tenor

Ou Hyuk Im Tenor, Master of Music and Bachelor of music; Studied at Mannes College of Music and Kyung-Hee University; Private vocal study and coaching with Thomas Cultize and Mi hae Park. Young Jin KIM, Music Arrangement

Mr. Young Jin Kim has received accolades as one of the most promising next generation musicians. As an accomplished orchestral conductor, composer, pianist, and vocalist he has demonstrated his vast range of musical ability in many successful performances. He holds a Bachelors’ degree in conducting from The Korean National University of Arts in Seoul and a Masters’ and Professional Studies’ degree in the same major from The Mannes College of Music in NY. Currently he is a director of Gabriel Youth Orchestra in Manhasset, NY. In 1995 Mr. Young Jin Kim received The Yoo Jae Ha Award in Seoul for his excellent achievement in conducting. His conducting performances include Hanmi Opera, Kim Jagyung Opera, Seoul National University string chamber orchestra, Yonsei Medical University orchestra, and many others. He studied with Chi Yong Chung, Samuel Wong, David Hayes, Nansae Keum, and Myung Hoon Chung.
